April 24th is new release day!
An ongoing goal of mine is to make a $50 bottle of
Cabernet Sauvignon. Just put a $50 price tag on it,
one friend once said. Sounds so easy but I would
know when it's a $50 Cab. Our 2003 Estate Cabernet
Sauvignon is as close as I've come in a lifetime but I
don't have the heart to charge $50 regardless.
Modestly I've priced this Great Cab at $24 for all to
enjoy.
Sunday April 23rd is our next new release day we're calling 'Starting a New Leaf' (coinciding with the budbreak of the vines). From 12 noon until 4:30pm we'll be unvieling our 2003 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, the ever-popular and magical 2003 Tir na nOg and the 25th Anniversary Commemorative Zinfandel. All our welcome and our Gold members get to enjoy complimentary foods as foil to the new wines. This is a great time to taste these exquisite new wines and get a stash for your cellar too. Beware the 25th Anniversary Zin will only be available by the case and is almost guaranteed to sell out immediately at the retro price of $96 unbelievable but true as our gift to you for 25 great years but there's only 100 cases for sale. Since its inception, the Tir na nOg (a Sangiovese based proprietary blend) has eluded us on all but odd numbered vintage years. We produced a 1997 that set the bar high and could only due that justice in 1999, 2001 and now with the 2003. Bizzarre? We'll uncork the magic with you on April 23rd. |

Diana and I have enjoyed every minute of it - well almost.
You may be shocked so have a seat, initially you may
be angry and feel abandoned, some of you may say I
knew it was coming but the truth be said, Fitzpatrick
Winery & Lodge is for sale. Oh my God, I'd better sit
down myself. Shocking as it sounds after 26 years in
operation, 32 years in the making, Brian and Diana's
living, breathing dream is up for grabs to a good home
of course.
Now this is the kind of thing that rumorists love. In fact about three months ago we were told our place had sold. Curiously I inquired, "To whom?" But one thing all those who have known me know is I'm not afraid to tell it like it is. So fugettabout all the rumors and remember that during this process of finding a new proprietor, if you haven't heard it from me, it's just plain bullshit. I'll release the good news as soon as it's real. Now there's a sense of sadness in the air from us thinking about you and vice versa - we've had some good times and made many friendships even those that only began and lasted the length of a good conversation are touching and memorable. And we wholeheartedly appreciate all the warmth everyone has shown us. But now is the time, more than ever, to not put off til someday all that there is to enjoy at Fitzpatricks. We're not going to let our energy drop in any way. I am producing the best wines of my career and there's no stopping me. So drink up and enjoy the healthiest beverage to be found anywhere. Come stay with us at the Lodge; we're not leaving tomorrow but you can't help but enjoy a extra visit. There's some things, simple as they may seem, that are endearing and make life more full so come by more often, relax awhile and enjoy our Ploughman's Lunch, our wines and the view. Can you imagine if there was no view? Let's not. Let's make the most of everything we have and keep enjoying each others company and the good things that Fitzpatricks brings to life. Afterall who knows how long change may take. No worries, be happy. |

As you know each month we pick three wines to offer
to you by (Buy) the box (case) at 40% off. April's
selections are back by popular demand the King's red
XI magnums for the fantastic price of $68.40 per
case of 6 magnums. Remember when a little crowd
shows up a stash of magnums of this red wine fit for
a king may save the day (or evening to be exact).
Then there's the 2001 Cab/Shiraz which is drinking better everyday and if it wasn't the fact that I know that the cycles of life keep on keeping on and I'll be making more wine every year, I'd horde that wine for myself. But let's face it wine is meant to flow, the more freely the better and at $10 per bottle it's flowin just fine. Enjoy. Our new 2003 Chardonnay could become an everyday wine to savor at April's By the Box price of $86.40 per case. That's just a tad over $7 per bottle.
