Enter Ziggy Marley
Over the past 31 years in Fair Play, we've been well
served by a distinguished line of Golden Retrievers:
Mooch the Pooch, Duffy and Corky. A dog's life on
our farm is full and rewarding. Not just any dog is cut
out for the job. So after Corky's passing when our
daughter Katie began looking for a successor, I
offered a bit of advice. Pick the mellowest male, the
one that doesn't run up to you when the rest of the
litter is jumping for attention. Through a friend of a
friend a litter of Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab mix had
just the little pup.
Ziggy Marley, Ziggy for short, accepted the farm position without reservation. Eventhough at 8 weeks old, Ziggy has no idea what's he's getting into and thinks life is just a whole lot of things to chew. Lucky for Ziggy, lucky for us, Loba (our beautiful wolf dog), reluctantly at first, will be Ziggy's mentor. There's lots to learn for Ziggy and he's got the best experienced teacher to keep his nose to the tasks. |

The Lodge is getting a facelift!
It wasn't that many years ago (unless I'm just losing
tract of time) that you could buy a house for what
we just paid for a new roof. Stripped naked with
twenty men working, the roof looked huge under the
welcome unseasonably sunny weather we enjoyed
pre-Thanksgiving. And by the end of the week the
Lodge had a new roof and a battlefield for a
landscape. We'll tackle landscape matters soon but
later.
The Lodge is a lot like a ship and we've tackled it starting amidship, stripping, cleaning and painting portside and working all the way around, top to bottom to bring her into tip-top shape. We'll be at it for some time to come. |

Selected Mini-Verticals in our branded wood box
We selected 2 and 3 successive vintage mini-
verticals of Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet, King's Red,
Chardonnay plus other rare collections all packed in
excelsior in our beautiful fired-branded wood boxes.
The supply is very limited and will be on display in the
tasting room. The pricing is very reasonable starting
at $29 for a special magnum box with the King's Red
XI up to $89 on the high end.

New Release Pick Up Day -Sunday December 11th
The last shipment of the year will be ready to pick up
on Sunday December 11th anytime from 11am
through 5pm. Come enjoy the new releases paired
with complimentary tapas. Both Gold and Green
members are welocme and encouraged to come and
enjoy a private event just for you. We'll have the fire
going in the Great Room with our Christmas tree to
behold. If you remember give us an rsvp that your
coming just so we can be sure to have plenty of
food. If you forget to rsvp, please come anyways.
The three wines to be released to our Gold members are: 2002 Cab/Shiraz, 2003 Reserve barrel select Chardonnay and the 2002 Syrah. Green members will get two of the three. If you can't make the pick up day, we will ship your wines to you that next week in time for the holidays. |
