June 2005 Fitzpatrick Winery & Lodge Newsletter
Generous June 2005
Greetings!
Enough already, Generous June you're killing me. We have enjoyed a long-awaited and much-needed high rainfall winter and spring. Thank God for his kindness. But this latest rain, June 8th, is nothing but trouble. My heart's out for the local cherry growers. And allright already with the rain because tis the third time now for mowing, weedeating and I don't think I should try any more weed flaming. But what about the powdery mildew lurking under the cover of grape leaves. The vine canopy is growing like there's no end to this luxurious living. There's as much canopy now as there was last July. It's a jungle out there. Spray, Spray, Spray, that's all I can say; but don't worry I don't spray anything nasty and toxic here.

Just fagettabowdit, the annoyance of the late rain, and let's get ready for summer. I'm positioning my By The Box selections and creating some great specials in perfect timing for you to stock up for summertime. Remember the days are long, the evenings are beautiful and its time to have friends over and share those glasses of wine and catch up on some serious relaxation (when you can). Read on.

Summertime,Summertime, Sum Sum Summertime...
by your guardian angel just reminding you to get ready.   Get ready for here I come!
What wines should I stock up on for Summertime? Well, of course, for the red wine drinker it's a non- issue, somewhat. For the white wine drinker or the bi- colored wine drinker, it's time to bring in the poolside sippers, chilled whites and roses.

And the great news is that everyone of our whites and roses are now on special through July 4th for 40% Off By The Box. But you can take that one step further and Mix or Match that box with any white or rose and still get 40% Off. I know, you might think I'm crazy for offering such a deal, but there's nothing more gratifying than happy customers. And if your response is overwhelming like it should be, I just might do it again next year.

June's By The Box Club Selections
  Red, Red Wine
Since I've already included all the whites and roses, that leaves only reds from which to select for June's By The Box Club offerrings.

Howabout our great Rhone-style reds: the 2001 Syrah, 2001 Grenache and to round it off, the King's Red XI. The Syrah and Grenache are a little pricey (and rightfully so with their quality and modest yield per acre) but now with 40% Off By The Box we're talking $12 and $11.40 respectively. That's a Great Deal for two truly great wines. Go for it before this 2001 vintage is all gone.

Now,as for the King's Red XI, 40% off the $13 retail for the 750ml bottle is only $7.80 But can you imagine if I extend the 40% off the already great price of $19 retail for the 1.5 liter Magnum? That would make this double size bottle an unbelievable $11.40 for the equivalent of two regular sized bottles. Just hurry in and buy it up before I change my mind. There's only 6 Magnums in a case so that's not even $70

And realize you can share these great buys with friends. After all what are friends for? So plan a little trip, grab a friend and come do some shopping.

Happy Fathers' Day

Lest we forget the men, the Dads, the fathers that slave every day at work (and those that just lay around the house) to make sure the family has a roof, food and plenty of toys. Real men just get up each morning and do it without any complaints (unless of course you get together with other real men over a pint of beer or a good bottle of wine).

Here's to all the men that cook, even if its only burning meat on the barbie. The caveman in us demands we hunt and gather and cook. Eventhough hunting may mean finding our way through the maze in the grocery store, gathering things in and out of the family vehicle, cooking can grow to bigger and greater things (with lots of tools to buy too). If you haven't tried cooking much, start watching the cooking channel and give it a try.

So here's to you, an invitation to stop by on Fathers' Day. I'll fire up the wood-oven and have some tasty bits of savory things to make for a nice afternoon of wine tasting and relaxing on the deck. Let's say noon until 4pm and if you can, let me know you're coming so I can roast plenty of tasty bits of savory things.

Our Price: $priceless You make my day buying wine and I'll make yours with these tasty bits.
