Wood Cabinetry
Not just for Kitchens & Baths! |
Greetings!
Beautiful wood cabinetry can be used in many areas of the house as seen in the photos (above) of a client's home office/study. A desire for an office of his own, complete with floor to ceiling bookcases, was a dream come true for this homeowner. The bookcases and custom millwork that framed the deep inset windows, as well as the writing desk with decorative inlaid designs were all hand made by a local artisan and belie the fact that this is new construction. The deep green tone of the wall color, wood blinds and paisley patterned valances add to the historic feel of the room. And though the room isn't very large, we were able to include many details - including a computer corner and a window seat with hinged lid that holds hanging files. The bookcases cover the fourth wall, bridge the French doors and continue a short distance to the desk. To see more of this beautiful home office go to Library-Office on our website gallery. And remember, there are so many areas of your home that are calling for the detail that quality cabinetry can fill! |
Tip of the Month...
Storage is always a problem, especially here in Florida where basements are non-existent. One way to add storage and eliminate clutter is with built-ins. If you're handy, or know a good carpenter, shelves can be added to closets, under stairs and in niches. But if "handy" & "carpenter" are not in your vocabulary, there are a myriad of stores and online resources that offer products that can fill almost every storage need you could think of...and some that you haven't thought of...And all without having to drive a nail!
You can add rollouts to kitchen & bath base cabinets. Add wire shelving to upper cabinets to increase dish storage, or divide closet space to keep foldables neat and stacked. Multiple hanging rod systems can double your hanging space in your closet and decorative baskets will keep like items together and dress up your space, too!
Make a list and then go shopping. I'm positive that you'll be thrilled with all the extra space you'll "find"! |
Can You Guess What This Kitchen Tool Is? Win $25 Gift!
As I mentioned in previous newsletters, I've remodeled my kitchen and came across a wealth of interesting "useful" gadgets. No one guessed the last one (a box opener), so let's see if anyone knows what this is! All correct entries will be placed in a drawing for a $25 gift certificate for Olive Garden Restaurant. I think this will be an easy one. My mom even had one of these when I was a kid! |
