...of a Different Drummer! |
Greetings!
When remodeling your home, sometimes the best designs are those that are outside the box! The owners of the remodeled bath (above) decided that the original laundry room, located on the far side of the house, was too far from their master bedroom, where most of the laundry was created. The newly enlarged master suite included a walk-in closet/dressing area (seen in photo above right, beyond bath door) and a laundry closet situated in the master bath. The closet is wide enough to house the stackable washer/dryer combo and shelves (not shown) to hold laundry supplies, towels & cleaning supplies for the bath. The lowest shelf is high enough off the floor to allow for storing the laundry basket below it. The bath itself is fabulous with it's curbless glass enclosed shower, private commode area (left) and glass mosaic tile surrounding the mirrors above the double vanity (right). And the best is...the old laundry room on the other side of the house was reconfigured into a walk-in pantry, wet bar and an organized entry from the garage that allows for storage of chargers, keys, hats, handbags and all the other little things that can cause clutter. |
Tip of the Month...
As mentioned in the story above, sometimes the best location for activities is not the standard. When remodeling, building or just reorganizing, decide how you actually use your home. Do you really need a room dedicated totally to a home office? Or can that room share double (or triple) duty as an office/craft room/guest room. With the advent of so many built-in options in cabinets, Murphy beds and storage containers, almost any room can be utilitzed for a multitude of uses.
If your formal living room is never used perhaps that space could be used for the game room your family has always wanted? Sometimes it can make the difference between moving and staying in a home you really love. Make sure you're using Your home to the optimum for Your family and Your needs!

Did You Guess What This Kitchen Tool Is?
In remodeling my kitchen, I found this kitchen tool...it's white plastic & quite sturdy! Some of the guesses were really creative! A hot pot hooker (John H - really? It's plastic!), a can opener (Ricky, it's plastic!!) a pie pan remover (sorry Elaine) but the best guess was from Kevin....a lasagne noodle picker upper! Maybe I should try that one? Well, no one guessed what it is...A BOX OPENER...yup, for cereal boxes, pasta boxes, etc. No broken nails when using this handy little item! Of course, it's been in my "junk" drawer for years and I've never used it, so according to Alton Brown...out it goes! |
