Want to Love your Kitchen again & $ave some Presidents? |
Greetings!
Want to fall in love again with your kitchen? And save some $$$ ("Presidents" - cash, greenbacks, Lincoln's, Washington's,)? Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest differences and they don't have to cost a lot. A long time client called recently and told me that her empty nester villa has an all white kitchen that is in need of some jazzing up. (See headline photos). After spending some time catching up on the latest news, she relayed that she didn't want to change the little kitchen because it worked well for her and her husband...and... the cabinets were in very good condition. She just wanted to add some color. The answer was to change the countertops (new dark tan "granite" look laminate), add some new updated stainless steel hardware (instead of white plastic) and paint the walls (medium olive green). Voila! Now, it's a little gem and done on a very small budget!

Tip of the Month...
We all have a variety of kitchen utensils and gadgets that clutter up our kitchen drawers. Take a tip from Alton Brown (Food Network Chef)...empty all your gadgets into a box. As you use them, replace them in the proper drawer. At the end of six months...any that you haven't used are ready for the donation box!
Now, granted, there may be a few that are only used seasonally. Take a good look at them. Could their function be duplicated with one of the items that you've already saved? If not, create a special storage box (clear plastic shoe boxes work well) for those special items and store it where it doesn't interfere with your daily utensils.
