Greetings!
Welcome to our first newsletter! 2011 was a crazy year for everyone and that includes me, too! At the beginning of the year, I found that I had mold in my kitchen (respiratory problems was the signal) and the whole kitchen had to be ripped out in one day! No advance planning, no looking for cabinets or the perfect countertop - just one day it's there and then it's gone. Well, if you know me, especially if you've been a client, you know the amount of time that goes into planning a kitchen. First, floor plans - there could be 1, 3, 5, 7 or who knows how many changes. Second, the selection of cabinets - quality, style, color. Third, the appliances - well, mine were still good, but a new kitchen and old appliances? I don't think so! Then, the whistles & bells - hardware, countertop, pullouts, built-ins and the list goes on and on. Needless to say, it took months to get everything back in usable order and I still don't have a backsplash. Why? Because I haven't had the time (or energy) to shop for it. You have to remember, as a designer, the entire world of options is available to me and once I make a decision I live with it for a very long time. I don't change major home products often. I think it's because I like my selections. But....I do change accessories seasonally. That makes everything feel new for me. And, I have to admit, I'm taking a break and just enjoying having a sink and a range again. |
