Have you heard the news? Jackson Carter is a STAR! Yes, you knew that, but seriously, he IS! And...what's up at OUTreach this week, an invitation to a cool play, plus a star sighting at Weber State University (and he's wearing an OUTreach bracelet). Coming Out Day Fun!
Make buttons, t's, stickers...SWAG for Coming Out Day this Thursday. Come out, come out, wherever you are!
This week's "Let's Talk":
Who is the best ally you know? And how do YOU rate?
Special Guest: 
The Wasatch Rambler himself:
Charles Trentelman! And he's going to bring something cool...giant vinyl records, perhaps, weird cameras...who knows! Charlie has been a reporter and columnist for the Standard Examiner for 30 years, and he's full of stories. Time with Charlie is always fun, don't miss it! Last week: OUTreach Clothing Swap and Giveaway! Bring some, take some, or just take some! OUTreach has received lots of great clothes, and you are welcome to supplement your wardrobe, maybe start a whole new look! Whatever is left goes to our friends at Pack and Pounce, so if you have some to bring, go for it!
In the craft area: 
Lots of choices! Coming OUT Day fun, make sun catchers, and...we have a whole new batch of duct tape, yay!
All afternoon: Dr. Heather Ambrose and Dr. Teri Kay, are at OUTreach and available to offer free, confidential counseling to you (and with your family if you wish). 
And after dinner:
FIELD TRIP! :D
We'll leave at 6:40 to see Charm at Weber State University - free ticket and transportation for OUTreach youth - details below!
Plus: Yummy, yummy dinner! And
borrow books and videos from our library, create a masterpiece in our Art Center, chill out and play pool, foosball or ping pong, or use one of the computers in our Cyber Center.
OUTreach This Thursday, October 4th 3:00 - 7:30 Ages 14 - 23
It's National Coming OUT Day...so let's have a party! 
Join us for fun games, party food and special guests who talk about what it was like for them to come out...and what it is still like to come out, sometimes every day ( like coming out is ever a one-time thing, right? ). Optional: A television show is doing a feature on OUTreach and would love to interview youth and volunteers. If you are 18 and over, just show up, if you are under 18, email us for more info and/or download a .pdf waiver for your parent/guardian to sign. :) Plus: support group, craft mania, the last day of our clothing give-away, pizza party, and then...current event discussion: politics, polls and debates...good grief! And we'll watch the debate together on the big screen, as Joe and Paul duke it out. |

Jackson Carter. He is the multiple award and scholarship winning OUTreach youth who is also a Trustee on the Board of Directors and Volunteer Co-Coordinator. OUTreach isn't the only place Jackson shines - he is a luminary at Weber State University, in the community, and with his family. BUT now he will have national fans. Drum roll...Jackson Carter is the first openly gay contestant on the nationally televised reality show, The Biggest Loser! Jackson answered an open casting call and then beat out thousands of contestants nation-wide for his spot. Look for more updates - right now he is on the Ranch in some secret CA location, but we can send him care packages! If you have a note or gift for Jackson, drop it off at OUTreach and Lyndsey will get it to him. And what will we send to Jackson this week? Look below...

Yes, there was a star in town, and what a lovely, compassionate and fabulous man he is! Read more about the 14th Annual Weber State University Conference in this article.
And our sincere congratulations to WSU for an amazing event that has indeed changed the conversation in many life-giving ways.

Join OUTreach youth and volunteers this Wednesday at "Charm"! Read the Standard Examiner article - and a fabulous review - the play sounds like a hoot! Meet us Wednesday, October 10 at about 7:00 at the Browning Center Eccles Theater (3848 Harrison Blvd). Tickets are $9-12 and worth every penny (free for OUTreach youth :) |

October 17: Tom Robin, Life with Lucy. Tom learned acting from the incomparable Lucille Ball! Hear some fun stories, learn about what it was like behind the silver screen.
October 17: Robert Peery King, Stonewall, an eyewitness account (part of our celebration of LGBT History Month). Mr. King had a spellbound audience last week, and will be back to tell more of his fascinating story!
October 17: Field Trip! "Ask the Elders", put on by our  dear friend, Charles Frost, Utah SAGE coordinator. We'll car pool to SLC and have some good questions for the wise adults who will be there.
October 24: Field Trip to Ogden Nature Center, wahoo!
