Dear OUTreach friend,
We are winding down on the hazy, lazy days of summer (were they ever lazy? hazy, yes...) and now we are gearing up for a full Fall season of special events and activities, beginning with Volunteer Month! Do you volunteer? Hurray! Not yet? Well...do we have some opportunities for you to consider! And in the spirit of our recent Shakespeare field trip, read on, McDuff!

This Week at OUTreach!

Youth Volunteers:
Homeless Youth Food and Supplies Project  Update and Organization Meeting
Two weeks ago, with the inspiration of Volunteer Leader Lincoln Parkin, OUTreach youth decided to undertake a special project: starting a food/supplies pantry for youth in need.
Thanks to the generosity of volunteers Kaye Lynn and Angelika, we have a start on the food pantry - now we need travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash/soap and toilet paper. Have some to donate? Stop by OUTreach 3:00 - 7:30 Wednesdays and Thursdays!
Back To School Workshop - last day! 3:30 
Need school supplies? We have 'em, and they are for you!
Current Events Discussion 4:00
Republicodemowhat? Let's start this week's discussion with political conventions and how the election process works. And then...who knows! Bring YOUR topic!

Dr. Ambrose (a clinical psychologist who volunteers who time every week). Need an ear, some advice? Dr. Ambrose is here for you and your family, always friendly and free.
Special Guest: Kathleen Cadman 4:30
Living a life that matters, through 97 countries and counting! Kathleen will be a guest speaker for two weeks, talking about how she has used innovative life maps to plan what her life would be. Hear about her travels, learn how to create your OWN plan for your life. Oh, the places YOU will go!

After dinner:
The movie sensation, Hunger Games!
And craft of the day, bauble magnets, great for your locker, refrigerator, or both!
Funky games night! We cleaned out the closet (always a good thing to do!) and found indoor horseshoes, darts (safe ones!), and a few others, including ladder ball... So we will have our version of the Gay Games, complete with prizes!
borrow books and videos from our library, create a masterpiece in our Art Center, chill out and play pool, foosball or ping pong, or use one of the computers in our Cyber Center.
OUTreach This Thursday, August 30 3:00 - 7:00 Ages 14 - 23
Join us on Thursday for a more "laid back" time than the crowded excitement of Wednesday!
We have one-on-one help with projects, job searches, academic help, or whatever you need, we cook dinner together and have a support group.
Special event this week:
Getting ready to celebrate our amazing volunteers!
Special fun, secret project...(shhhhh).
It involves sparkly things, many colors, and lots of love, and no, it's not a puppy.

 OUTreach volunteers, we love you! Each week during September we will hear from an OUTreach volunteer - personal stories about life and why they care about OUTreach and youth.
To cap it off, we will have a big party Wednesday, September 26 (5:00 - 7:00) - save the date to recognize our amazing volunteers and to welcome new ones into the OUTreach extended family!

Volunteer Opportunities at OUTreach!
| |  Want to make a difference in the life of a youth? 80% of LGBT youth don't know one supportive adult...maybe you have some time and gifts to share!
There are many different ways to share your time and talents at OUTreach. Below are descriptions of available positions. Interested? Email peggy@ogdenoutreach.org.
And...come to our a special Volunteer Appreciation Evening September 26th! We'll have a casual catered dinner at 5:30 and tours and reception at 5:00. Expect to meet OUTreach youth, new and "seasoned" volunteers, and members of the Board of Directors and Advisory Council.
