What's up at OUTreach?
A variety of fun and educational classes, activities and guest speakers. PLUS our "usual" awesomeness: borrow books and videos from our library, create a masterpiece in our Art Center, chill out and play pool, foosball or ping pong, use one of the computers in our Cyber Center, and enjoy a homemade, nutritious dinner!

Current Events Discussion 3:30

Special guest speaker: RC Callahan 4:00
RC works at Weber State and has a background in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Psychology and Education. He will talk about his life and experiences, how he got to where he is, and what it's been like to be gay in Northern Utah. And he's really cool.

Humanitarian projects in Mexico
Every summer Lincoln travels to Mexico - learn more about what he does, and why!
Teen Health and Leadership Class 4:30
Brainstorming and planning for our next class event: Sexual Health Olympics! Save the date, September 19th at 5:30. We'll have pizza and salad and play outrageous, educational games. But for now, join the class, learn some Photoshop and marketing techniques!
 Tarot 101 with Maureen
Ever wondered about Tarot cards? Maureen continues her spirituality series with an introduction and discussion. Dinner - nutritious and home cooked...yum! 5:30
Plus: Dr. Heather Ambrose will be with us - she works with individual youth, parents and families, and she does this as a volunteer, at no cost to you or your family. Interested? Just say hi, she's super nice and easy to talk to.  Craft Mania - make dog toys! For your pet, or for a friend. Bring old socks and tennis balls if you have them!
OUTreach This Thursday 3:00 - 7:30 Ages 14 - 23 Join us on Thursday for a more "laid back" time than the crowded excitement of Wednesday!
We offer one-on-one help with projects, job searches, academic help, or whatever you need, we cook dinner together, watch our movie of the week, and have a support group. This week join us for individualized exercise and nutrition help as we get ready for...wait for it...an OUTreach Softball Team!

Great news this week - our friends and supporters at the Weber-Morgan Health Department have awarded OUTreach with a grant to help in our efforts to prevent smoking! It's a justice issue, with LGBT people, especially youth and homeless youth, the targets of big tobacco advertising. We will develop fun, youth led groups to design our own counter-advertising, plus form support groups and more to help youth stop smoking. What's the percentage of OUTreach youth that use tobacco? 67%. Let's watch those numbers go DOWN!
And...hurray Larry Miller Foundation! Thanks to the Miller Foundation OUTreach is able to expand three wonderful programs:

Stay tuned for radio, magazine and art installations that showcase the amazing talents of OUTreach youth!
Education and More!
Rachel Peterson, education specialist from Utah State University will lead interested youth in classes and workshops designed to help youth achieve their goals, whether to graduate high school, get into college, figure out the best career and how to get the training and skills to land the right job. This class features field trips and personalized mentoring and assessments.
 Fitness and Health
OUTreach is working with Dustin Hawkins of Workout Addiction Recovery to design the a fitness and exercise program for OUTreach youth. PLUS, Kosti of Weber State is helping us put together our own softball team. Woot!
