OUTreach Orientation and Retreat!
| | |
January 14, 9:00-1:30 At OUTreach
Who is invited? You are! (And it's not too late to RSVP!)
Join us for a fun, educational time of orientation to OUTreach and volunteer and diversity training! We'll even have lunch - so plan to be there and bring a prospective volunteer, or perhaps someone who would like to learn more about the lingo (what does pansexual mean, or how has the meaning of "queer" changed?) - how to create safe space for ALL persons, to speak with someone who is different, and even learn more about who YOU are! This is fabulous training, held at OUTreach - don't miss it!
Please RSVP to: medmonds@ogdenoutreach.org or 801.686.4528.

| Focus for 2012: Youth Leadership; Health and Wellness, Homeless Youth | | OUTreach focus to provide for many opportunities to expand leadership capacity, self-esteem and educational and vocational outcomes. The teens are amazing!
OUTreach teens and youth have been working to provide resources for some of the hundreds of homeless youth in the area between Ogden and Salt Lake City. Last Wednesday at OUTreach, clothing and equipment from Occupy Ogden that had been washed and donated was prepared for distribution to homeless youth in camps. Last weekend, a meal was delivered to a homeless youth "family" of choice - 5 youth, a 1 year old and a 2 week old in a nearby town.
Youth leadership opportunities are being developed to provide experience in self advocacy through: a trip to the State Capitol to meet with Representative and Senators; a teen health leadership project; and the beginning stages of planning a Youth Leadership Summit to focus on strengthening families, safe housing for all teens, and bright futures... Exciting? Yes! Want to help? Let us know - call or email! |

Sharing OUTreach!
| | |
We have had requests from organizations around the country to tell them the "recipe" for creating a wonderful resource center and safe haven for LGBTQ and allied youth and adults. Some of the founding visionaries of OUTreach put together a "template" to help others dream big and create centers in their own communities.
"Thank you so much for this invaluable information. By the sharing of this information, the benefits of your mission in Ogden, are a contributing factor nationally. Kudos to you, not only for the service to the LGBT community, but also for your willingness to share information and assist others." Pasadena, California

Cynthia Fleming, the Executive Producer, wrote to us today: "I congratulate you for giving your youths the gift of Dottie. We are very proud to produce a play that explores these issues: bullying, belittling, and beating of people particularly LGBT youth; LGBT equality - workplace, marriage, etc; increasing self esteem, self-acceptance, authenticity, and honesty; love and loss; same-sex surrogacy; and decreasing self-loathing, suicide, fear, shame, guilt, judgment, and ignorance. Everyone in your organization would benefit from seeing this play and bringing someone to this play that may be on the fence with these issues, would be a plus."
