Standards for Four-Year-Olds Standards 

 

The Department of Education is pleased to announce that the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year-Olds (2011) manual is now available for purchase. This informative manual cost $10.50 which includes shipping. Purchases can be made using credit cards, checks, money orders, and purchase orders.

 

The Standards for Four-Year-Olds Manual can be ordered online at www.flstandardsfouryearolds.com or mail by completing the paper order form.

The following annual School Readiness finance documents are due to the Coalition by May 15th:

All School Readiness child care providers must submit these documents to the Coalition. Failure to submit the documents by the deadline may result in no paid holidays for 2012/2013. Please disregard this notice if you have already submitted these documents.

Warm Line Update Warm 

  

The Early Learning Coalition's Warm Line is still available to assist all Pinellas County child care providers inclusion support. Warm Line call topics include but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum issues
  • Strategies for Managing Behavior
  • Child Development Concerns
  • Health
  • Environmental Adaptations
  • Laws and Regulations (i.e. The Americans with Disabilities Act)

The Coalition's Inclusion Specialist Bonnie Touchton will be retiring on May 31st. Beginning on June 1st, Bret Engisch will take on the role of Inclusion Specialist and will continue to organize community screening events and answer Warm Line calls.

VPK Marketing Materials Marketing 

 

The Coalition has ordered new colorful lawn signs for all VPK providers to advertise the program at their site. These signs are available for all VPK providers offering Fall 2012/2013 programs that have not already received signs during this year's renewal meetings. In addition to the signs, we will have other marketing materials available for providers such as: 

  • VPK Online Registration Business Cards  
  • Mouse Pads 
  • "Official VPK Provider" Window Clings
  • VPK Provider Lapel Pins
  • Transition Posters

Marketing materials are available to providers by reservation only. Please contact Amanda Urdal at 727-400-4466 or aurdal@elcpinellas.net to reserve a time to pick up materials.

 

The Coalition will have the signs available for pick up in the Coalition Training Room on the following dates: 

  • Tuesday, May 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 
  • Thursday, May 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

FFCCHA Conference Scholarships FCCH 

 

The Florida Family Child Care Home Association, Inc. will host its 20th Annual Conference "Enhancing Our Minds...in 2012" on June 22-24 with pre-conference trainings June 20-21 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach, Florida.

The first ten (10) eligible School Readiness FCCH providers to email info@elcpinellas.net will receive a scholarship from the Early Learning Coalition to attend the FFCCHA Conference. In order to be eligible, FCCH providers must be in good standing with Pinellas County Child Care Licensing and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County, Inc. Deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 15, 2012.  


Correction: Training at Risk eNews Correction 

 

You recently received an email announcing upcoming trainings as risk of being cancelled. The wrong date was given for the following training:

 

The Business of Doing Family Child Care  (Area 7 - Professionalism) 

You love children, so you decided to open a Family Child Care Home. How hard could it be? This training will help you get organized and give ideas on filing systems that will help keep you in compliance with Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas. You will also receive ideas on communication tools to keep the families involved.
