Greetings!

The record breaking hot temperatures this summer has caused many of our citizens great difficulty. I hope you and your loved ones are able to maintain your health and safety while trying to enjoy the season as well. 2012 has been a record breaking year for my firm as well and we are grateful to all of our clients for their vote of confidence. It is a pleasure to work with so many outstanding organizations. I am also honored to be working with so many Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/New Jersey Health Initiative grantees on their capacity building strategic plans. In addition, the launch of the new Center for Excellence: Leadership, Governance and Philanthropy at Fairleigh Dickinson University has been very rewarding for me personally. Creating a High Performing
Nonprofit Board

The vast majority of nonprofit organizations have great dedicated and committed executives and wonderful individual board members. Yet, one of the most common questions often asked is "how do we create a high performing board" as a whole"? There appears to be general agreement on the need for a high performing board, but not as much discussion on what exactly the characteristics of high performing boards are and how to overcome the common obstacles towards its achievement.

On June 28th, the Mansion at Fairleigh Dickinson University was packed with 200 attendees for the launch of the Center For Excellence. It is an honor for me to serve as the Executive Director of this Center while I continue to be at the helm of Dennis C. Miller Associates.

Our unique focus will be supporting "high performing emerging leaders" currently in the nonprofit sector as well as corporate executives transitioning to nonprofit positions. The Center and its curriculum have been developed by respected leaders in New Jersey's nonprofit sector and I am proud to have them as Advisory Board members as we seek to address the unique needs of our sector.
