Light Up Rose Park: Home Security Light Rebate Program

Increased security lighting in the neighborhood is a way for Rose Park residents to deter crime and compensate for the occasional old tree blocking your streetlight.

Criminals will probably avoid streets in our neighborhood that are well lit.

Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal's office has provided us with information on the city of Long Beach Neighborhood Services rebate program for security lighting.

The RPNA called Neighborhood Services today and obtained a copy of the grant application and other details on this program.  Please call the NRC for complete information but if you are wondering if you will qualify, here is some information for you:

  •  Do not purchase materials or take any action until you are approved for the rebate.
  • You must use their original blue form when applying.  You can obtain an original form by calling the Neighborhood Resource Center (562-570-1010) or email info@rpna.org and we will send one to you.
  • The lighting rebate is $500.00 for product & labor and they will also pay for the electrical permit you will need if the lighting is wired. If you use solar power you do not need a permit.
  • The income qualification for a rebate listed here is the total maximum annual income for people living in the residence. (A husband, wife and one child is 3 people):
    •  One person in residence $46,400.
    • Two people $53,000.
    • Three people $59,650.
    • Four people $66,250.
    • Five people $71,550.
    • Six people $76,850.
  • This is a rebate program and you must furnish a receipt for the completed services in order to be reimbursed.

The Rose Park Neighborhood Association is very interested in assisting you with lighting up the neighborhood. Please email any questions to us at info@rpna.org Also we can help you in organizing your entire block to participate.

Just imagine a safer street after dark!

Please consider purchasing solar motion activated lights that have a range equal to or longer than the distance from the light to the sidewalk.  As people walk along at night they will be illuminated as they go making the street safer and helping iwatch participants.

Historic E. 7th Street & Historical District Banners Are Installed on E. 7th

7th St Banners

Rose Park Neighborhood Association applied for and received a grant from the Neighborhood Partners Program to install banners designating the historical districts on E. 7th Street.

The Neighborhood Partners Program is offered by the Department of Development Services to assist neighborhood and community groups with beautification and improvement projects.

Signal Hill Petroleum made this all possible with a generous contribution of $1,500.00.

Residents and businesses from the three historic districts, the Neighborhood Resource Center and Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal's office pitched in with a clean-up that met the requirements for Rose Park Neighborhood Assn. contribution.

These banners are mounted on existing street poles from Redondo Ave. to Alamitos in an effort to draw attention to and identify the historic designations of these three districts.

Efforts to improve E. 7th Street are ongoing and participation in these projects is appreciated.  If you would like to be a part of this project, we need you!  email info@rpna.org or shop7thstreet@gmail.com
