8th St and Dawson Ave
East Division  Commander Michael Beckman has notified the RPNA that there was a robbery and stabbing around midnight last night.
The information we have is that an unknown person tried to rob someone and the victim ran so the assailant stabbed them.  The victim went to the hospital with a non life threatening injury.

The crime is being investigated.

RPNA is looking for volunteers that would help us address the problem of crime in the neighborhood.

Other communities have been successful in deterring crime through security lighting and watch programs.  The RPNA has made inquiries about grants that can be obtained from the city for security products.  We will be posting the information we gather.  It is possible that motion activated security lighting could prevent the night travel of violent criminals through our neighborhood.

Historic E. 7th Street & Historical District Banners Are Installed on E. 7th

7th St Banners

Rose Park Neighborhood Association applied for and received a grant from the Neighborhood Partners Program to install banners designating the historical districts on E. 7th Street.

The Neighborhood Partners Program is offered by the Department of Development Services to assist neighborhood and community groups with beautification and improvement projects.

Signal Hill Petroleum made this all possible with a generous contribution of $1,500.00.

Residents and businesses from the three historic districts, the Neighborhood Resource Center and Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal's office pitched in with a clean-up that met the requirements for Rose Park Neighborhood Assn. contribution.

These banners are mounted on existing street poles from Redondo Ave. to Alamitos in an effort to draw attention to and identify the historic designations of these three districts.

Efforts to improve E. 7th Street are ongoing and participation in these projects is appreciated.  If you would like to be a part of this project, we need you!  email info@rpna.org or shop7thstreet@gmail.com
