"For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God." Galatians 6:15-16

The Galatian church had freely received the Gospel of Jesus Christ; they had been justified by faith. Now false teachers had come into the church, and were trying to get the people to convert to Judaism. These false teachers were preaching that the people needed to be circumcised and follow the Law of Moses to be right with God. Paul tells the church if they will only continue in the Spirit, as they had begun there walk, trusting in Christ for justification, and not their own works they will be a special people to God. They will be the true Israel; God's chosen people, born not of the flesh but of the Spirit.

God's chosen people is not made up of a particular nation, or of those who are born of a certain race. God's chosen people are all those who trust in Jesus Christ for justification. Those who trust in their own works, or their heritage and religion to be right with God have made a terrible mistake! The true Israel of God is not an earthly nation, but it is made of a redeemed people who have trusted in Jesus Christ! If you have trusted in Jesus, rejoice, for you are special to God! You are a part of the true Israel of God! God's chosen people!

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;" 1 Peter 2:9
