"For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ." 2 Corinthians 2:17

The Church had not been birthed long when opportunist seeking their own personal gain came on the scene. They were out peddling the Word of God as if it were some kind of "Snake Oil" trying to get rich off it. Many didn't like what Paul had to say, because he refused to compromise the Word, watering it down for his own benefit. Paul was ordained by God to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for the profit of Jesus Himself, and that's exactly what he did, without compromising God's Word.

There are many today who take God's Word, water it down, and then peddle it for their own benefit. They use God's Word just like these early swindlers that Paul wrote about, to fatten their bank accounts. The Word of God is a powerful gift, freely given by God Himself to all those who would embrace it. All ministry is to bring glory to God! Beloved, be careful not to get involved with those who peddle the Word, seeking their own glory and fame! Cling to the Word, all of the Word! Refuse to embrace any of God's Word that has been watered down! Seek the truth of God's Word in all areas of your life; it will make you free!
