Greetings!

Welcome to Fall 2011!  We especially welcome our new students; we are glad you are here! And, we welcome back our former students as well!    

Baldwin Music Education Center exists to enrich lives and bring music into the lives of as many children as possible in a fun, dynamic, educational and affordable way.  While listening to a symphony concert or the radio are important musical past-times - nothing is as good as participating!   Spectators are important and we hope you always will do that - but, we want you to jump in and participate!

Music education is not just an "extra" part of a child's education - it is central to their core education.   Music empowers children, it unlocks their creative minds and it is with them forever.   If you don't believe us - just ask a few adults on the street if they wish they could play a musical instrument and/or if they wish they hadn't quit.  

Music Education is like all education - it's building blocks, carefully laid, brick by brick as tall as you can go.   You are never finished with education really, nor with music education.   The more you know the more you know and the more you can do - it only makes sense.   And, it makes sense (and dollars) to invest in the future - to invest in something meaningful and something that lasts forever. 

If you are here for the first time, we welcome you, we celebrate the many accomplishments of those long-lasting students and look forward to being part of the lives of new students.

Our Students
There are nearly 100 piano students ages 6 - 16 who meet each week in 14 piano classes.  Students perform all year long in various recitals and events. 

50 students performed in the Beach Party Recital in August and 50 more will perform on the Halloween Recital in October. 

Another 30 will participate in the Fall Junior Music Experience.  Watch for the results of that local adjudicated festival!

If you know students who have piano experience, but are not currently studying, and would like to jump back in - call the office 351-1109 to set-up a placement audition.   

 
Our Staff
Rachel Kramer, President of Music Learning Center, Inc./Baldwin Music Education Center has just completed two articles:  "Fired Up!" for Clavier-Companion and a review for The American Music Teacher.  Both will be coming out in early 2012.

In August, Rachel began her 3rd year appointment as adjunct faculty at Wilmington College as piano instructor and accompanist. 

It is such a great honor to be working alongside the fabulous Edy Dreith and Naomi Goertz.   They have been part of the BMEC team for almost 10 years each!  Their classroom manner and excellent teaching skills have been experienced by countless children and families.    Next time you see them - give them a big thank you!

Remember our Winter Term for ages 6-months-6 years will begin in November.  We miss our old friends and hope to see you soon and new friends, too!
