HC Benefit Concert featuring THE IMPOSTERS on June 2.  Doors open at 7 pm.  Tickets are on sale at the school, at the theatre box office this weekend and at the door on June 2.  $15/per person - held at the Knights of Columbus Hall.  Dance the evening away to rock-n-roll tunes!  BBQ dinners and drinks available for an additional fee.  You don't want to miss the fun - a great way to kick-off the summer with other parents and friends of Holy Cross.  All proceeds go directly to benefit our school's needs:  books, technology, tuition assistance.  Come out to support the school.

Do you want to help?  We will be collecting donations of bottled water and sodas for sale at the concert.  Please bring to the school office Tuesday through Thursday, May 29-31.  Thanks for helping!  Proceeds from sales help our students!  If you are interested in volunteering at the event, please email Patti Culbreth at Culbreth_p@hcrs-va.org.

PTO YARDSALE

The Yard Sale was a HUGE success! We made $3200.00 Profit. We would like to thank all of the teachers, students and parents that helped. We really would not have been able to do it without all of our volunteers. We would like to extend a special Thank you to Steve Luther, Sarah Luther and Maureen Sheedy-Morris. They worked countless hours on making the Yard Sale a success. Steve & Sarah Luther sold things on Craigslist so that all of our expenses were paid off weeks before the sale. We would also like to extend a special Thank you to Darryl Morris for delivering customers merchandise and running countless errands. Thank you everyone!!

Gael Athletes - Plan Ahead!

Any boy or girl planning on playing a sport at Holy Cross School next year is encouraged to get your athletic physicals now through July Don't wait for the rush at the last minute!  Athletic physicals run from May of this year until May of next year. That means you are covered from volleyball or soccer all the way through a spring sport.  You can not practice or play in games unless you have an up to date physical. If you have any questions, see Mr. Mitchell or go by the office and pick up a physical form. Take care of this early!

News from the Library:

Accelerated Reader Store- Mon. June 4th- Students in grades 2-5 will be able to spend their accumulated points at the store! I am still looking for donations of new or barely used items that could be used as prizes in the store: small games, puzzles, candy, knick knacks, lotions, etc. Perhaps you have some unopened happy meal toys?  If you have anything, please send it to the library! Thanks to all who have donated!  The students will enjoy their shopping trip!

Calling all Rising 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Moms:  The HCRCS Girls on the Run team needs you!  Even as we look to the close of the 2011-2012 school year, we are making plans for the Fall 2012 Season which begins the last week of August and ends November 17th with the Celebration 5K Run.  It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Monica Casker and Wendy Golden, HC Girls on the Run Coaches for the past three years, as their daughters move into HC Middle School.  Thank you Monica and Wendy for an AWESOME job!

In order to continue the tradition of a HCRS Girls on the Run team, twoVolunteer Coaches are needed.  This could easily be you!  The program is usually held on Mondays and Wednesday, shortly after dismissal, but the schedule is flexible to fit the Coach's Schedule. Please avoid Thursday due to the Tutoring schedule.  All Coaches are trained by Girls on the Run of Central Virginia, and equipped with a "Coach's Box" containing all necessary supplies for the lessons.  The Curriculum is easy to follow and fun, even for the Coaches.  Running/walking is involved but you do not need to be a "real runner" to Coach.  Come on, what are you waiting for?  Your daughters will love the Girls on the Run experience and so will you! For more details contact Monica Casker, Wendy Golden or Mary Hansen.
