Healthy Choices Speaker Series
On Wednesday, February 29 from 9-10 a.m., we will kick off a series of speakers who will address our middle and high students (as appropriate) about making healthy choices in life. Wednesday's speaker will be Dr. John Eccles, Dean of Students of Lynchburg College; he will address the high school only and will discuss the dangers of alcohol and drugs. A more thorough explanation of this speakers' series will be sent to parents via our RenWeb distribution email system on Monday. Although the speaker's address is aimed at our students, parents are welcome to attend.
Attention Parents of MS and HS Students
We will no longer hold our after school study hall for athletes in the HS Media Lab beginning on Monday, March 5. Students should report directly to their spring sport practice or arrange a ride home directly after school. The girls soccer coach will hold an optional study hall for his players after school if a soccer player needs to stay after until their 5 pm practice. Thank you for making note of this change in after school options. Please be aware that older students can go to after school care with Mrs. Foster if needed. This after school option does charge a fee.

"Thank You!" from the Fourth Grade Class to the families who brought in supplies for Haiti. Over the last two weeks, we collected several bottles children's vitamins, tums, zip-lock bags and prenatal vitamins. We also gathered an assortment of hair bows and rosary beads for physicians traveling to Haiti next week. Angel Missions Haiti will be visiting a girls orphanage next week with our supplies in hand. Dr. Humphreys sent a special thank you note to Holy Cross explaining that the Haitian people will be gratefully touched by our donations and the warm thoughts that they have not been forgotten. She went on to explain that in the area where they will be traveling many of the people have not been seen by a doctor or a nurse. Thanks again to all of our HC families for their generous donations!
IMPORTANT REMINDER FROM MRS. MAIN IN THE LIBRARY
All elementary reading logs from our February reading incentive are due on Thursday, March 1st, or Friday, March 2nd. Students should give them to their classroom teacher or to Mrs. Main. Remember that both sides should be filled out and that they must be signed by a parent/guardian. Those students who complete their class goal and turn in their signed reading logs by Friday, March 2nd, will earn a free dress day for Monday, March 5th as we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss! In addition, those students are eligible for prizes on that day!
Students in grades 3-5 are competing in Sylvan Learning Center's reading contest simultaneously with our incentive. Winners will be announced the week of March 5th! Stay tuned. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Main. ([email protected])
The PTO is trying to get your input in order to plan a Family Night that you and your family would like to attend. All parents of HC students, please respond to the email you received on Friday entitled HOLY CROSS PTO SURVEY! It will only take a couple of minutes of your time, but your opinion is greatly needed!
