BEST SELLING AUTHOR, EDITOR AND CORRESPONDENT TO HOST PROGRAM AT HOLY CROSS REGIONAL CATHOL IC SCHOOL
Jonathan Coleman, best-selling author, will be visiting Holy Cross Catholic School on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, to address middle and high school students on the craft of writing. Mr. Coleman recently co-authored West by West, My Charmed, Tormented Life with the Los Angeles Lakers iconic basketball star, Jerry West. Mr. Coleman says about West, the silhouetted figure of the NBA logo for more than 40 years, "The journey Jerry invited me on...has been the ride of my life."
Mr. Coleman is a New York Times bestselling author of nonfiction who lives in Charlottesville, Virginia. He taught literary nonfiction writing at the University of Virginia and has published several critically acclaimed books which include Exit the Rainmaker, the biography of Jay Carsey, a college president who abruptly abandoned his marriage and career and then disappeared; and At Mother's Request: A True Story of Money, Murder, and Betrayal which received the Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America and was made into a CBS miniseries. He has also authored Long Way to Go: Black and White in America.
Mr. Coleman's career also includes editorial positions with Knopf and Simon and Schuster and he was also a producer and correspondent with CBS News. He currently narrates documentaries and audio books, as well as voiceovers for commercials. He has been profiled in nearly every major newspaper in the country and has appeared on all the major television and talk shows.
The event begins at 10:15 a.m. in the school's gymnasium and is free and open to the public. Carpooling is recommended and guests should be seated before 10:15 a.m.ASBESTOS UPDATE: As required by state and federal agencies in accordance with AHERA regulations, Holy Cross Regional Catholic School was inspected for asbestos this fall. The inspection report confirms our management plan satisfies regulations. The school will be inspected every three years as part of our continued maintenance goals. ALUMNI HIGHLIGHT: Please join us at the Boys Varsity Basketball game on Friday, January 13 at 7:30 to honor Mr. Kevin Brady, Class of 1992. Kevin is the only HC Student/Athlete to achieve the 2000 point club and the 1000 rebound club while also maintaining membership in the National Honor Society. Scholar and Athlete - - the best of Holy Cross. Be sure to attend the game to honor Kevin and cheer on our Gaels!
Elementary Dress Code Reminders Students in elementary grades should wear tennis shoes or other shoes with laces with socks. Boots and moccasins are not appropriate shoes for elementary students. Girls wearing jumpers need to wear dark blue, black, or dark green leggings during cold weather. We continue to have outside recess so please have students wear appropriate outerwear. Label all clothing. Thank you. 
March for Life Walk in Washington, DC - Monday, January 23 Students and families interested in participating in the annual Right to Life Walk in Washington, DC should contact Mr. John Jones. A bus will leave for DC from St. Thomas More Church at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Monday, travel to DC and return that evening.
Attention 8th Grade and 12th Grade Parents
We would like to begin putting together the slide shows for the end of the year and we need your help collecting photos.
What do we need?
Seniors-we need about 5-6 photos spanning your life 8th graders-we need photos of school life from pk-8th grade.
Photos should be labeled so that they can be returned and can be left in the office.

Because of your support, we received a Barnes and Noble gift card for $575.00 to be used for library and classroom books! Thanks to Mrs. Allison Barnes and the wonderful "elementary school chorus of children" who sang tunes from the Christmas program at our fair on December 10th. Thanks also to Mrs. Schemmel and Mrs. Hickey for reading stories for the children that day! It was a day for Holy Cross to shine to the community. CHRISTMAS W ISH LIST: Thanks also to those who donated a book to the library in h onor of a teacher or loved one this Christmas through our "Wish tree" pro gram. We will be adding 31 new books to the library and each book will reveal the donor and honored individual's name on a bookplate.
