Girls on the Run News

The Holy Cross Girls on the Run team, coached by Monica Casker and Wendy Golden, did a terrific job at the New Balance Girls on the Run Celebration 5K on Saturday, November 19th.  All of these young runners completed their goal of running the 5K distance with smiles on their faces.  So please congratulate, Alexandra Casker, Kaitlyn Davis, Shannon Dougherty, Grace Elmore, Lynley Golden, Elizabeth Grace Harvey, Maddie Luther, Anna Mooney, Jessalyn Moreno, Amanda Speicher, Anna Taylor and Gillian Trost when you see them in the halls!  Special thanks go to the Holy Cross Middle School students Brendan Dougherty, Jennifer Hansen, Mary Key, Sarah Laurent, Alan Malkiewicz and Makayla Rony for coming out to volunteer after their all-night lock in...they were some tired puppies but managed to hold on long enough to help with set-up and cheering!  Thanks also go to Ann Shenigo, Board member for Girls on the Run and "caboose"extraordinaire (follows the last girl in) for picking up the students and bringing them to Sweet Briar College.  We are so grateful to all of the parents of the girls on the team for their support and assistance all through the program and during the Celebration Run as well.  Shannon Knight, a recent addition to the Girls on the Run Board of Directors, made her debut at the 5K, assisting with set-up and crowd management.  Mike Dougherty and Jeff Hansen lent their skills with Traffic Control and Parking.  Patti Culbreth held her place at the Finish line to welcome each HC runner as they crossed the Finish Line and handed them their medals.  Holy Cross Regional School was well represented!
