 Support our Varsity Soccer Team
Students interested in attending Monday's soccer match at VES need to pick up a permission slip from Mr. Mitchell and return it to him by Monday, November 7. Students will leave Holy Cross after seventh period class (2:22) and take school transportation to the game which begins at 3:00. Students are expected to watch the game and follow school rules until they are picked up from VES by a parent at 5 pm. The school is providing ONE-WAY transportation for students, so parents must make arrangements to pick up their student(s) at VES after the game. If you are planning to attend the game but not use school transportation, you will need to bring in an early dismissal request and a note from your parent giving you permission to ride with your parents or another family. If you have questions, please see Mr. Mitchell. In the event of a win on Monday (which we know our Gaels can do!), the school will offer transportation to the next rounds of competition which will take place on Thursday and Friday nights at Sports Backer Stadium. Those permission slips will be ready on Wednesday morning and MUST be returned Thursday morning if a student wishes to go to the game on Thursday and/or Friday. We expect the game to be in Richmond, so plan for a long night of cheering for the Gaels! In order for the team to advance to the finals on Friday night, they must win the Thursday night semi-finals.
Go Gaels!

Soccer Season Wrap-up by Mr. Mitchell
To start the season, the Holy Cross varsity soccer team faced many questions. They still do but in a positive fashion: how far can they go in the state playoffs which begin next week at Virginia Episcopal? Currently, Holy Cross has kicked its way to an 18-5-1 overall record, led by Nolan Mann and Joe Bruzek who made All-Virginia Independent Conference first-team honors. During the year, Mann had 133 saves as goalie along with eight shutouts. Bruzek led the team in scoring with 38 goals while teammate Iseman Knight contributed 16. Holy Cross won the VES Soccer Tournament earlier this year, beating Liberty Christian Academy in a penalty-kick shootout. The Gaels defeated Eastern Mennonite here for the first time in seven years. Holy Cross was runnerup in the VIC Tournament. Still, Jimmy Wilmouth, Zach Keaton, and Tom Bruzek made the all-tournament team. Great job by Coach Randy Turille, Assistant Coach Todd Roach, and a very supportive administration, faculty, and student body!
Sports Meetings on Wednesday, November 16 6:15 - 7 pm: Winter Sports Meeting for Winter Athletes and their Parents will be held in the gym. If you are playing a winter sport, please attend to discuss expectations, meet the coaches and kick off the season. 7:00pm: Fall Sports Awards Ceremony will be held in the cafeteria for athletes and their families and friends. Come out to support our athletes and celebrate a great fall season for all. Dessert and lemonade will be provided.
