The school would like to thank you for your outstanding service to Holy Cross. You have been instrumental to our success and we are most grateful. To show our appreciation, we cordially invite you to a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the school on June 6th at 2:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. It is our way of saying thank you and to let you know how much we appreciate you. Please be mindful that June 6th is a 1:35 p.m. dismissal day. If you need coverage for your child/children, we have arranged a movie for them in the elementary library. Please RSVP to the school, before June 3rd, by calling 847-5436 if you can attend. Please also let us know if you will need coverage for your children.

Elementary Field Day Is Coming!
Ms. Elmore and the elementary staff have planned FUN things for field day on Tuesday, June 7th. We need help that day to set-up, manage activities, serve lunch, and clean up. All parents are welcome and encourage to come. Please email Ms. Elmore at elmore_k@hcrs-va.org if you can help and the times you are available.
Students will get wet during field day. Students should wear clothing that they don't mind getting wet. All students should have sunscreen applied before coming to school. Girls should wear swimsuits under their T-shirts and shorts. Tennis shoes are still required. Afterschool care students may want a change of clothes.
Elementary Music Concert
You will be amazed at the musical talents our students have! Please join us Monday afternoon at 12:15 and you will hear singing, keyboards, recorders, and pianos as our PK-5 students sing and play their way toward summer vacation!

Book & Video Sale- Mon. June 6th
There will be a table of used & new paperback books, discarded library books, , and VHS video tapes for sale in the elementary library Monday, June 6th &Tuesday, June 7th. All items will be 50 cents to $1.00! . This will be a great opportunity to stock up on some summer reading. If your child is planning to shop, send $ in an envelope or baggie marked "book sale". If you have any books to donate, please bring them in first thing Monday!! Money raised will benefit the summer reading program.
Elementary summer reading- 2011
Wanted: Summer readers- Summer reading begins this Tuesday at 1:35. Elementary students received their packets in the green folders on Friday. Please do not throw this away!! They have been given a reading log and the requirements for completing our summer reading program. Students entering 3rd-5th grade have some specific guidelines from their teachers that they must follow. (They may be sent home separately.) Our "Western day celebration" for all readers will be held in September! Feel free to contact Mrs. Main over the summer with any questions! main_h@hcrs-va.org
Accelerated Reader- Summer hours
Mrs. Main will open the library for students to take Accelerated Reader quizzes a couple of times over the summer. Please read the E-newsletter for dates, or contact me to let me know you are interested and I will be sure you get an e-mail reminder (see contact info above)! Students can do their summer reading and earn A.R. points!
Volleyball Raffle

The girls are having a Baltimore Raffle Fundraiser. Tickets will be on sale this week at school!
The raffle includes:

- Game Tickets include hot dogs, soda, popcorn, peanuts and more!!!

Flynn & O'Hara will have a new uniform sale on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. This is the only time they will be at our school before the fall session begins. Come see our new fleece jackets, fleece vests, as well as the new banded polo shirts (for Middle and High girls) AND new non-pleated pants! Buy items on the spot and/or order for August delivery.
