New School Year Information
Summer is quickly coming to a close, and our HC students will be back in the classroom before you know it. Please note the following information concerning the beginning of school!
Monday, August 16 and Tuesday, August 17 Senior portraits will be taken at school. Call the office for details!
Thursday, August 19 at 7 pm - Elementary Back to School Night
Friday, August 20, from 10 am until noon - MS/HS students pick up schedules and locker assignments
Monday, August 23 - 1st day of classes 1:35 dismissal
Tuesday, August 24 - 1:35 dismissal

September 18 6am - 1 pm - PTO Yard Sale - Volunteers needed. Contact pto@hcrs-va.org for details.
Scrip Orders
We are still taking Scrip orders this summer. You can either email me or drop off an order to the front office. Check out the new items on scrip. Go to www.glscrip.com and register your family. Then you can place your order on-line. After you place your order please email Colleen Sites at mickey4keen@yahoo.com, then send in your money to the front office the next
day. We take Visa, Master Card, cash and check. Keep those orders coming!
Volunteers Needed
We were blessed last year to have volunteers
help with elementary lunch. We are looking for helpers again this
year. Please contact Julia Wingfield at wingfield_j@hcrs-va.org if you can help during any of the following times:
Morning duty: Be in the cafeteria from 7:45 until 8:10 to watch students as they arrive, then dismiss them to class.
Lunch duty: Be in the cafeteria from 11:15 until 12:00 to help students with lunch tasks.
Recess duty: Be on the playground from 11:35 - 12:15 to help manage students while on the playground.
You will be with an experienced teacher/aide at all times.

contact me if you can help. If you feel like you can only do one day a
month, still contact me! We can use you for whatever time you can
help. Thanks!
Host Family Needed
I am looking for host families for two
high school boys. Both are exchange students from China. If interested
in learning more, please contact Pat LeDonne at ledonne_p@hcrs-va.org
Girls on the RunŽ Opportunities
Girls on the Run needs
volunteers to assist with replenishing Coach's Boxes on Monday, August 9th
from 9:00 a.m. until completion (in the past it's been around 1 or 2).
Community Service Hours will be provided, as well as pizza and beverages.
Girls on the Run is looking for women able to serve
as coaches. You can volunteer to coach twice a week for twelve
weeks-even if you're not a runner. Coaches receive five hours of
training (August 21st
at HCRCS, 8:45-2:00) and a comprehensive, well-researched
curriculum and materials that are used in communities across the
country. Please
