Attention Junior and Seniors
Rising high school juniors and seniors and their families are invited to visit the 25 private institutions during Virginia Private
College Week July 26 - 31. Students who visit three colleges during the
week will receive special application fee waivers, a nearly $100
savings.
School Advisory Board Meeting
A meeting of the School Advisory Board will be held on Tuesday, July 27th, at 5:00 PM in the
conference room. This meeting is open to to all Holy Cross parents, teachers, and students.
Host Family Needed
I am looking for host families for two high school boys. Both are exchange students from China. If interested in learning more, please contact Pat LeDonne at ledonne_p@hcrs-va.org

Girls on the Run needs
volunteers to assist with replenishing Coach's Boxes on Monday, August 9th
from 9:00 a.m. until completion (in the past it's been around 1 or 2).
The work is not difficult but requires focus and attention to detail.
Pizza and beverages will be provided for lunch. Please RSVP to Mary

Girls on the RunŽ is returning to Holy Cross in the fall of 2010 and Coaches are needed!
How can
you help? Since the focus of our program centers on girls growing to be
strong and confident young women we are looking for women able to serve
as coaches. You can volunteer to coach twice a week for twelve
weeks-even if you're not a runner. You do not need to be a parent to be
involved. If you enjoy working with 3rd, 4th and
5th grade girls, are 21 years or more and female, living an
active and healthy lifestyle and like to have FUN, you can coach for
Girls on the Run!
Coaches receive five hours of
training (August 21st
at HCRCS, 8:45-2:00) and a comprehensive, well-researched
curriculum and materials that are used in communities across the
country. They also receive discounts on New Balance running apparel.
Each site needs a minimum of two coaches per group of 8-15 girls, so
bring a friend or make a new one. To see Girls on the Run in action,

It's not a huge time commitment (about 3 hours a
week), but it will mean the world to a small group of girls. Please

Yard Sale: September 18, 2010 6:00 am to 1:00 pm
It is time to do that summer
clearing and cleaning before school starts again.....clear out the clutter
and save it for the school....
We need anything and everything that can be resold to start our
year off with a bang. Let's make this the biggest and best yard sale
ever!! Volunteers needed too..........please contact pto@hcrs-va.org and
let us know what availability you have on either Friday
afternoon/evening or Saturday Morning.....we need everyone's help to get
things done.
Library
NewsWe
have just received another disc with an additional 100 Accelerated Reader
titles. An updated A.R. list will be
posted on the H.C. website. More fun
books to choose from! If
your child has read a book on the A.R. list and would like to take the quiz,
please contact Mrs. Main at main_h@hcrs-va.org so that we can set up a time to
meet at the library. I am in and out frequently and would be happy to meet you
there. If
you have misplaced your elementary summer reading logs, please pick up another
from the office. There are 5 weeks of summer reading left! Elementary students must complete the goal if
they wish to participate in our Treasure Hunt fun day in September! School

It's hard to believe but we are half way through our summer! That means time is running out on the summer reading assignments. Make sure you are on target to finish by the due date.

Fall Sports Physical
Just a reminder, if your child wishes to tryout for any team, they must have a current physical on file. Click on the link provided to print your copy of the form. Any questions, please call the athletic office. Sports Physical Form
Honeywell Instant Alert
It's hard to think about snow with the temperatures we have had the last few weeks but bad weather can disrupt the school schedule. Know what is happening immediately, sign up for Instant Alert and know when cancellations or events occur that require a change. If you have already registered please take a moment to check and update your information, especially phone numbers. We have had a few numbers that have been incorrectly entered.
