The Chamber welcomes the Janet Blauvelt Law Firm
Janet Blauvelt is an attorney with 25 years of experience advising small businesses and individuals with business and estate planning needs. Although she tries to keep her clients out of court, when necessary, she also represents them in lawsuits that cannot be avoided. While her primary address is in Kansas City, Janet is especially excited about opening an office at 118 Spring Street in Excelsior Springs on February 1.
Janet and her husband and a menagerie of animals recently moved to Holt, Mo., and she wanted to get more involved in the adjacent communities. Janet volunteered on numerous boards, commissions and task forces during the 22 years she lived in Kansas City, and she is excited about getting involved in the Excelsior Springs community.
"The Excelsior Springs Chamber has been very welcoming and receptive to new members. I have already received business and given my business to people I have met," said Janet. " The Chamber is a wonderful organization with great energy!" To contact Janet, call 816-556-0818 or send email. For more about services provided visit the website

Calan McConkey is an Excelsior Springs native and graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 2002. After high school, he attended college at the University of Missouri, obtaining degrees in biology and psychology. He then continued his education by attending law school at the University of Missouri, graduating in 2009. Shortly thereafter, he moved back to Excelsior Springs and opened his law office. |
The law office, located at 1902 W. Jesse James Road, focuses primarily on general practice areas (criminal, traffic, family, civil), but also provides intellectual property services. Specifically, Calan is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which allows him to file applications for patents and trademarks. In addition to filing applications, he can also advise clients on the proper procedures to develop and, more importantly, protect their intellectual property.
"I am very excited to be back in my hometown of Excelsior Springs and helping members of my community," said Calan. "I joined the Chamber because I feel that my office can provide services that may be beneficial to local business owners -- protection of intellectual property and other aspects of business development. I am also excited about meeting other Chamber members and representing local businesses in the community."
