Monthly Luncheon

The March luncheon was sponsored by the Excelsior Springs Job Corps. Don Bonjour, right, told about the different jobs programs that the center provides, including the culinary arts department that catered the luncheon.
Our March Monthly Luncheon was a great success! We'd like to thank the Excelsior Springs Job Corps for sponsoring and all the business donations for our door prize drawings ! We had 100 attendees and it was well received at the Clay/Ray Vet's Club/American Legion.
We are now accepting sponsors for our 2012 Monthly Chamber Luncheons held the Third Wednesday of every month. If you or your company would like to be a sponsor please call the Chamber Office at 816-630-6161.

 Gary Woods has been in the insurance sales and service industry with Gary Woods Agency, Inc., since 1986, offering American Family Insurance. He has been a member of the Excelsior Springs Chamber since 2005.

Join us for our monthly luncheons
We would like to thank those of you who are attending our monthly luncheons and encourage you to invite a non-Chamber to be your guest.
"The purpose of this function is to increase networking opportunities for the Chamber membership. The Chamber has grown substantially over the past several years and this monthly event is just a simple and convenient way to get our membership face to face with other business owners.
Be sure to bring your business cards for an opportunity to be chosen Chamber Business of the Month. The winner will be featured on the Chamber website for a month and will receive an ad in the Excelsior Springs Standard and the Town and Country Leader
for one issue. In addition at the next meeting they will have a display table and the chance to talk briefly about their business. Member Tosha Jackson offers creative services with GRFX Creative
Growing up Tosha Jackson wasn't sure what she wanted to do with her life, but she has always known one thing -- she has a passion for being creative. Throughout school, she took every art class that was offered. Eventually, she found the perfect avenue to channel her creativity in graphic design and photography.
As the sole designer at a small marketing firm, Tosha spent more than two years fine tuning her design skills and learning the ins and outs of marketing and branding. She even captured a coveted ADDY® award for her design of a sales promotion kit. But like all good things, her time there came to an end.
Finding herself unemployed in the midst of a downturn economy, while expecting her first child, Tosha weighed her options. "My husband and I had just decided to start our family before I lost my job, but I didn't let the situation get me down. I saw it as an opportunity to pursue my passion for creativity. And it would allow me to work from home, so I could enjoy being a new mother as well," she explains.
The timing couldn't have been more perfect. Tosha used the remaining months of her pregnancy to start her new venture, and by the time her son Ryker arrived, Tosha had built a firm foundation for her business through her own marketing and networking. GRFX Creative was deemed "the little agency with a BIG passion for all things creative" and encompasses all of Tosha's creative services, including design, branding, event design and portrait photography.
Always having the desire to return to a small town, Tosha and her husband and child recently moved to Lawson. She hit the ground running by joining the Excelsior Springs Chamber where she hopes to meet lots of new people and maybe a few new clients!
"I joined the Chamber for three primary reasons. First and foremost, I love meeting new people and helping other small businesses achieve success. I believe that the Chamber grants me that opportunity to connect with other businesses. Secondly, as a small business myself and being new to the area, I am always looking to expand my client base and customers. And lastly, I am passionate about being involved in the community!" said Tosha.

Don Collins active in business and community roles
Don Collins was a painting contractor in Iowa for 20+ years. After moving to Excelsior Springs in 2007, he worked in Lenexa for a year as store manager of a cabinet shop. Ignoring the stagnant economy, he combined his backgrounds and opened "Cabinets - Vanities and More" in downtown Excelsior Springs. All of his years in woodwork provides the local community with very fine, all-wood furniture at prices anyone can afford.
"I believe that if you live and work in a community, you should take an active role in doing all you can to help strengthen and improve the city," said Don. "I feel the business economy in Excelsior Springs is right on the verge of a huge increase. The merchants in this downtown are some of the most encouraging, helpful and pleasant of any city I've ever lived in!"
