The Language of the Garden
|
Interpreted Through Music and Photography |
Sometimes we get so focused on growing and selling plants and the multitude of things that go into the process of bringing plants to market, it's easy to unconsciously shift our thinking to terms of production numbers, sales goals, and bottom lines. Every now and then we need to be jolted back to the reality that we are dealing with living organisms that affect the way we live, feel, and communicate.
I was reminded of this when I ran across this fascinating video which uses amazing time lapse photography brilliantly choreographed to delightful music to bring this point home. The garden truly does have a language and each garden speaks to us and reveals the heart and passion of its owner if we simply take the time to observe and listen.
If this two minute video doesn't touch you, please check your pulse. You may be in need of Emergency Medical Attention! Full screen. Speakers on.
Special thanks to Patti Trott and the staff at Hoover Gardens in Westerville, OH for bringing this wonderful video to our attention.

Interpreted Through the Eyes of a Child
The following brief narrative was written by Elizabeth Callaway, age 11
January 11, 1995.
My Great Grandmother
My great grandmother sits in her wheel chair
Thinking of her past, of her childhood
Wanting to tell her great grandchildren
Knowing what to say,
Not knowing how to say it
She is behind a dark wall
All alone
As I walk around her garden
I see her, But in a different way,
I see her kindness,
And her love
I see this through her garden
For she cannot show me
I must find it myself
But, sometimes I think she sees through the wall
And she smiles at me,
And I feel a warmness inside
That I cannot explain

Thought For the Day

In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts here and there.
To the flowers I whisper the secrets I keep
and the hopes I breathe.
I know they are there to eavesdrop for the angels. ~Dodinsky

I Could Be Yours!
Tabitha Lavender is a gorgeous friendly happy young Staffie / Boxer girl, 2 to 3 years old, who weighs about 44 pounds. Her coloring is unique: unusual white markings with pale lavender brindle spots. She loves people! Her first impulse on meeting a new friend is to fling herself to the floor and roll over for belly rubs. She is a new rescue who appears to get along well with other animals. Until adopted, Tabitha will attend our EVERY OTHER SUNDAY adoption events along with most of our other available dogs at the Healthy Spot pet supply store, 1110 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90401, just a few blocks from the ocean. We are there from 11 am until 3 pm on alternate Sundays.
INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
Check our website at www.billfoundation.org for an adoption event schedule, and for information on how to adopt. |
