Every Picture Tells A Story
This week's article was inspired by the Project of the Month that was featured in Cedar Run Landscape's May newsletter. You can view more pictures of their project on Flickr.
In the project, the team at Cedar Run was asked to incorporate statuary from an old garden into the design at a new location. The final result is a perfect example of how old and new elements can be blended together by a skillful designer to create a stunning composition.
In the words of Cedar Run President, Alden Zove, "The homeowners were collectors of garden art, and when it was time to leave the sprawling home and gardens where they had raised a family for many years, our challenge was to integrate the artwork into a townhome setting, and remind the family of the garden niches that had been created at the old home. A bench, sitting area and plantings were created at the old home to provide a location for wedding pictures of the daughters that were married at outdoor weddings there, which made that setting very emotional. We were able to re-create that space at the new home, and now when the children visit, they enjoy looking at that space from their new patio. There are many other stories about the sculptures." And thanks to the Cedar Run Landscape team, those stories are alive and well in their new garden home. In honor of our friends at Cedar Run Landscape, home of "The Rain Guy" and water feature specialists, we hope you will take a minute to enjoy our musical selection below, Handel's classic Water Music.
Do you have an interesting landscape project to share? We would love to see it!

And the Winner Is....
Last week, we asked readers to answer the question, "Why did the turkey cross the road?"
Though we had many bonafide contenders, we can choose only one winner: Steve Arrington of Sun Nurseries, Inc in Woodbine, MD. Steve's winning response: "He was trying to get as much GROUND COVERED as possible!" We hope Steve enjoys his new subscription to Garden & Gun! |
