Prayer Request

Dara
Many of you know Marshall Seigfred who does a lot of delivering for us at the nursery.  Marshall and his wife, Fran are two of the nicest and finest people I know.

Right now they are in Ohio at their daughter's bedside.  She is a beautiful lady and her name  is Dara Costiloe.  She has been battling cancer off and on since 1998.  She is currently battling leukemia and breast cancer at the same time.

She and her family have been very strong through this entire ordeal and they are not giving up now.  She is in her mid forties with young children and has a lot to live for. She has been put in touch with a legitimate overseas clinic that has had phenomenal success with "terminal" patients and her friends are trying to raise money to help her get there.

If there is any way that any of you could help through your prayers, a card, an email, a donation of an item for the silent auction, or a monetary donation to this fundraiser, it would truly be a blessing to this family at this tough time.  Above all, please keep them in your prayers.

Please check out her web page  and especially  the 3rd paragraph, "A Message From Dara..."

Thank You All and God Bless,

Bo

Pup of the Week

Felix dog
Felix! At 5 1/2 months old, Felix is still a pup. He is sweet as can be. His foster family says he might be a Tibetan monk reincarnated as a Chihuahua mix!

Poor Felix had a broken leg, but has had surgery and is almost completely recovered. Learn more about Felix here, and of course, you can always check out the other dogs available through the Bill Foundation by taking a look around their web site.

Thought for the Day

Rachel Carson
"In an age when man has forgotten his origins and is blind to even his most essential needs for survival, water along with other resources, has become the victim of his indifference."

-Rachel Carson

How To Buy a Buick in the South

Mad TV Clip
If you have ever purchased a car in the south, you may be able to relate to this Mad TV skit.

Last Week's Puzzle:

stretch of highway
Congratulations to Jetta Ward for being the only person to correctly answer the two part quiz:  The photo above is the infamous "Spaghetti Junction" or 'Malfunction Junction," either answer is acceptable.  And the second part, "What is the comical name for rush hour on the Atlanta Perimeter?"  The Watermelon 500!

The Rain Guy Rides Again

Cedar Run MAHTS video The last time we brought you news of our friend and longtime customer Alden Zove, we showed a few samples of his company's beautiful water feature projects that make use of rain water harvest and re-use.  Alden is a great resource for information on this subject and was honored to be a finalist in Water Garden News Magazine's 2010 Pond Builder of the Year competition.

Recently, Alden shared his expertise during several lectures at MAHTS (Mid-Atlantic Hardscaping Tradeshow).  During the conference, Alden showed attendees how Cedar Run Landscaping uses rainwater harvest to create an eco-sensitive hardscape design at his office.  You can watch the video on this interesting project by clicking here.

We are interested in how our other customers and friends are making our industry greener. Do you have specific products or policies that make your business more eco-sensitive? Send us an email.  We'd love to learn what you're doing and possibly feature your business in a future newsletter.
