This school year along with our monthly focus on the International Baccaluareate (IB) Learner Profile, our school is focusing on the IB Attribute of Empathy.

According to the IBO (Making the PYP Happen, 2007), empathy is imaginatively projecting our selves into another's situation, in order to understand their thoughts, reasoning, and emotions. When we talk with our students about empathy, we discuss being able to put myself in someone else's place in order to better understand him or her.  As we make our way through the school year take some time to discuss the learning opportunities your students are receive and continue the discussion regarding Empathy.

We are looking forward to an amazing school year and hope that you will join us in many of the exciting events and activities we have in store for your children.

Don't forget we need you as volunteers and the requirement for all parents is a minimum of  3 hours per year.    I hope to see you soon and welcome you back to another terrific school year.

Here's to a great 2012-2013 School Year!

Events
Parent Drop-off/Pick-up

Some things to keep in mind are:
These procedures were developed to keep all our students safe.
All students are dismissed through the playground.  Please do not go to your child's classroom during dismissal.

Cross only where the crossing guard is with the stop sign.  PLEASE wait for her/him to help you cross.
DO NOT cross behind the guard, please make sure she/he acknowledges you and stops traffic.
Students may be dropped off or picked-up only in the designated lane. Once you choose to use the drop-off/pick-up area you cannot back out or drive around.
If you use the drop-off/pick-up area you must stay in your car.
If you prefer, you can park in the designated areas and walk your child into the building.
If you are not within the drop-off/pick-up area you will need to wait.
Only cars within the drop-off/pick-up area will be able to pick-up or drop-off students.
If you have students needing assistance with their booster seats, you may want to park and walk your child.  The drop-off/pick-up lane needs to maintain a continuous flow.
At 830 am, the back gate will be closed and locked. If you arrive late to school, please park in the front parking lot and enter through the front door.  You must accompany your child into the school and sign him or her in if you arrive late.
The back gate will remain locked until 230pm.  If you are visiting the school during the hours of 830 am and 230pm, please park in the front parking lot and enter thorugh the front door.  All school doors will be locked during school hours.
