CORRALES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

This past week our students were treated to a visit from a wolf, visit this link to share more information with your student regarding Stormyfrom the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary http://www.wildspiritwolfsanctuary.org/  Thank you Sharon Berman (Max's MOM) for coordinating this visit for us.

On Tuesday our students in grades K-5 experienced transition day spending a couple of ours with their next year teacher.   Our fifth grade students were treated to cheers and well wishes by our current MYP students as the walked across the hall to their new 6th grade classroom   Yay! Fifth GRADE!

Our Science fair projects for students in grades 4th - 5th were amazing.  The students also did an outstanding job of presenting their projects to younger PYP students, parents and visitors.  Way to go 4th and 5th graders!

Last week our school was awarded $12,000 from our PTA membership to purchase more computers, library books, and fund our Music Program.  Plus, our CIS foundation was awarded $5,000 by the PTA membership to contribute to our building fund.  Your fundraising really pays off.  THANK YOU PTA MEMBERS!.

Our 4th and 5th grade students did an awesome job presenting their research at our recent Science Fair!  Way to go, guys!

KUDOS

The students did great at this year's Battle of the Books in Silver City. Students were placed on teams with students from around the state, from Las Cruces, Lordsburg, Deming, Artesia to Santa Fe. They answered four rounds of questions from their list of 20 books. Some of the questions were quite obscure, while others were easy to answer. Isolina Guzzo, 4th grader, was on the Elementary 1st place team, while at the middle level Claire Blackwell and Hannah Mares were on the 1st place team. We are now looking at next year's reading list and making plans! If you are interested in participating next year please contact Rhonda Lopez for grades 4-5 or Lara Groff for grades 6-8.

UPCOMING EVENTS--PTA NEWS

International Field Day

CIS will celebrate International Field Day on May 25. In addition to a series of fun outdoor activities, the purpose of this day is to give teachers time to pack up their classrooms.

This is your chance to come out, have fun with your kids and really support our teachers.

The hours will be from 8:30 - 11:10 am. PYP will have 7 internationally- themed activity stations. MYP will have 4 stations, plus longer periods of time for soccer, basketball and volleyball.

In order to make this day a success, we need YOU (a lot of YOU ;-) parent volunteers. A small group of parents is currently helping Coach Webster with organization and preparation. We will need LOTS of help setting up and staffing the stations on the 25th. Please go to the signupgenius link and sign up to help with this fun-filled event! Your time and effort will be greatly appreciated!!
