Child Care for Winter Break:
Child Care will be available at CIS from 8:00am-5:00pm on December 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, and 30. The cost for this care is $20 half day, $40 full day, or $180 per week. To reserve a spot for your child(ren), please email Jennifer Martyn at jennifernicole8686@gmail.com.

While the 2012-2013 school year still seems distant, this year's lottery is quickly approaching! Beginning next week, we will start accepting applications for the 2012-13 school year so it is imperative that all students and their siblings who will be attending CIS be sure to turn in intent to return forms ASAP to ensure that a space for your child will be reserved and not offered as lottery openings. Spaces can only be reserved for those students who have this form on file.

Hot Lunch

If you will be ordering hot lunch for December, please turn in your calendar order form (one per child) and your payment ASAP! Please do not send your child with payment for meals served on the same day. Prior notice is required.
Checks are to be made payable to Aaron's Sandwich Time. Meals are $3.00 for salad bar, hot main dish and milk or water. Box salads with egg and/or chicken are available for the same price. If you would like to purchase a salad bar only option the cost is $2.00 per day.

This holiday season CIS students are working very hard to collect donations and monetary contributions to benefit La Familia, Albuquerque Rescue Mission, Amistad Crisis Shelter, and the Barrett House. Please join us Friday, December 9 from 7:00-8:00am for a delicious Pancake Breakfast to raise money for our causes. We are asking a minimum $2 donation from each attendee. Our Winter Music Concert will take place on December 12, 2011. Since space is limited in our library, we ask that you only attend the performance times of when your student is performing. Student performances are scheduled as follows: K - 1 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. 2 - 3 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. 4- 5 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. MYP 7:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

BOOKFAIR Volunteers needed! Our Fall Book Fair will be held December 8th-15th. If you are interested in working a shift or you are able to help with planning, promoting, set-up or take-down, please contact Tammy Spatz at tamspatz@gmail.com. We will have shifts available before and after school, Saturday morning, Monday evening and various times throughout the day. For those of you that are new to Book Fair, books are purchased on the spot making this a great way to do some holiday shopping while helping CIS at the same time. All proceeds from the sale are used to purchase books for our library. See you there!

WINTER SHOP N STROLL The cold weather and holiday season celebrations are around the corner! So mark your calendars for the CIS Winter Shop N' Stroll that is scheduled for December 10th at 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. This is a family event with a "Kids only Shopping" area, Raffle for a beautiful hand- made Quilt, and story-telling for all with Scott and Johanna Hongell-Darsee from the NM Humanities Council (11:30am)! The shopping area is made possible by donations of articles by CIS families. We need all your extra, unwanted, "stuff" for the shopping area. You can begin dropping off your items now at the school. It is a HUGE help if you can pre-price your items. **We will also need volunteers for the following: - Help set-up Friday after school and Saturday morning.

- Be in charge of Story-telling (be the contact and help set up)

RAFFLE
Keep cozy warm this winter with a beautiful, homemade lap quilt! The quilt is 62"x 62", made with 100% cotton and backed with flannel for extra comfort. Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5!
Please return any tickets you are willing or able to sell with the money to your teacher by December 9th. List the buyer's name, phone number and your child's grade on each ticket. All funds benefit the CIS PTA.
Thank you for participating in the Winter Quilt Raffle. When you finish selling the 10 tickets that you were given, please return the money and ticket to the front desk. There will be a raffle box that you can drop your money and tickets in. Or you can give an envelope with tickets and money to your teacher. If you need more tickets, please see Tara at the fron desk. CIS FOOD PANTRY
Hello CIS Families! The holiday season is upon us and we have a great way to teach your children about the spirit of giving. We have CIS families who are need support and I know we all have big hearts and want to do something to help. I am asking each family who is able, to bring in to the school on Fridays in December one or both of the following items (designated by your child's grade) to help the families over the long winter holiday break:
- Kindergarten: 1 can of cranberries/2 cans other vegetables
- 1st Grade: 2 cans green beans/1 can French onions
- 2nd Grade : 1 Box Turkey stuffing/1 box or can of broth
- 3rd Grade: 1 box corn bread mix/1 box muffin mix
- 4th Grade: 1 box pumpkin bread/ 1 box instant mashed potatoes
- 5th Grade: 1 can Pineapple/2 cans other fruit
- 6th Grade: 2 cans cream mushroom soup/1 can or packet gravy
- 7th Grade: 1 box pancake mix/1 bottle syrup
- 8th Grade: 1 can chicken or other meat/ 1 loaf bread
- HighSchool: Box oatmeal/box rice or pasta
