Storybook Character Day
Dear CIS Families,
Monday students have an opportunity to dress up as a favorite character in a book. For example if they have a Spiderman book, they may want to dress up like Spiderman. Students should be able to discuss the plot of the book and the reason why they chose such a costume. This activity is strictly voluntary and if students do not dress-up they must wear their uniform.
The storybook parade will begin exactly at 8:30 a.m. Parents are welcome to view the parade outside of the school.
Also, the elementary teachers are dressing up like Dr. Seuss Characters to have a Seuss Celebration commemorating all of the great characters in the Dr. Seuss books.
For MYP students, their MYP Teachers are deciding with their students if they have earned the privilege of dressing up on Monday. If they have, students may dress-up as characters from one of their favorite books. I have stipulated that the costumes may not be scary, bloody, or provocative.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Elsy Diaz
Head Administrator

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS MARIGOLD PARADE
The CIS after school art club has been working diligently on papel picado, decorated skulls and skeletons, as well as paper marigolds to get ready to participate with a CIS float in the Marigold Parade on Sunday November 6th, from 4-8 pm. We invite you to learn how to make some dia de los muertos art at the International Day Festival this Saturday and contribute to the float decorations! All CIS families are welcome to participate in the parade! According to Marigold Parade rules, members of floats must be masked or painted as Calaveras (No Halloween costumes or clowns. No bloody masks. No Llorona or evil spirits allowed.)
If you are interested contact Tara ([email protected]).

The first season of soccer at CIS went really well. Even though we were playing older (sometimes much) and generally more experienced players, our players always gave their best and never gave up. Every player improved, and some went from trying for the first time to knowing what they were doing! I am very proud of them all!
We also got some great support from parents. Thank you student athletes and parents!

PTA NEWS
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Your child will be coming home on Tuesday November 1, with all the information necessary to promote our fabulous environmentally friendly fundraiser RUME BAGS. Our goal is to raise over $1,000 and here's how you can help us do that! If you help your child to sell, or purchase for yourself at least 15 bags we will reach that goal. Please sell to your neighbors that you know, friends, and family. We need EVERYONE to participate-a little but goes a long way. When we are successful in efforts we will be able to provide funding for many of the projects requested by our families and staff at CIS.
We appreciate all of your help and efforts in making this fundraiser a success. If you have any questions please email [email protected] and I will get back to you promptly with an answer.
Thanks,
Tonia Padilla
