4th Annual INTERNATIONAL DAY FESTIVAL  

 

International Day is Saturday, October 29th at our school from 1 - 5 p.m.   Students and teachers have been preparing presentations for our families and guests in each of their classrooms.   Students have some wonderful musical performances that none of us should miss.  Musical performances will begin at 3:00 p.m.   I encourage you to bring your child to perform during their designated class time.

Come early or stay after the performance to participate in the other fun activities, like face painting, origami workshops, belly dancers and more!  Please remember that tickets are $10 for adults and children 5 and older and a family of 4 pays only $30.00.   Children 4 and under are Free!   Ticket sales begin on Monday.

FOOD PANTRY MONDAY 10/24

Just around the corner from CIS is Mission Avenue Elementary School and it is a monthly Mobile Food Distribution site for families who qualify!

Next Distribution: On 10/24/2011 @ 3:00 pm - @ 5:00 pm
Distributing: food items at no cost to families who qualify that include a meat item(s), non-perishable items such as canned food and dry goods, produce and bread. Income is not verified, but an application needs to be filled out (one time).

Where: Mission Ave. Elementary School @ 725 Mission Ave NE.

Bring a box, laundry basket or something to carry the food items.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS MARIGOLD PARADE

The CIS after school art club has been working diligently on papel picado, decorated skulls and skeletons, as well as paper marigolds to get ready to participate with a CIS float in the Marigold Parade on Sunday November 6th, from 4-8 pm.

We invite you to learn how to make some dia de los muertos art at the International Day Festival this Saturday and contribute to the float decorations! 

All CIS families are welcome to participate in the parade!  According to Marigold Parade rules, members of floats must be masked or painted as Calaveras (No Halloween costumes or clowns.  No bloody masks.  No Llorona or evil spirits allowed.)
