International Day Fair!

This community building and fundraising event will be tons of fun and you can make a difference by contributing to making this awesome event a success!

International Day is one of the two main fundraisers for the PTA this year (there will be no Auction Dinner this year), so the success will determine some of how we can meet all of our goals for the year, including funding the after school programs, field trips and teacher appreciation.

The International Day Fair this year will be open to the public and will provide for the price of entry, access to bounce houses (for pyp and myp grades), face painting, henna, performances by belly-dancers, middle eastern drummers and japanese dancers as well as performances by our CIS children!

You can contribute by getting the word out about our event.  Tell your friends!  Share our flyer on your facebook page!  Post a paper poster or flyer out in the community!

If you can contribute in some way to the classroom museums that are being created, contact the classroom teacher or Monet (familiacaldsilva@yahoo.com) or Tara (tprewitt@gmail.com). Materials such as artifacts, textiles, maps and books are welcome!

Music News
Parents and CIS community -

We are off to a great start in music classes this year. I am so fortunate to see students twice a week for 30 minutes and we pack each class with -
* singing ( alone and with others)
* moving to a wide variety of musical styles
* listening and analyzing form
* reading and writing instrument notation
* creating
* playing instruments
- all while utilzing cooperation, problem solving, respect and lots of enthusiasm!
I welcome you to our classroom to watch or share a special musical talent.

Our 4th and 5th graders sing on Thursdays and this combined Chorus will be be performing soon at International Day. Each class ( K - 5) will be performing a song or dance from their class' country of focus. I would love a volunteer parent from each grade level to help me organize the costume and staging. ( no experience necessary :)

Our newly formed MYP Chorus will also be singing at International Day. These dedicated singers practice during their lunch time, and they are sounding super.

Lastly, I want to ask for help with our very generous donation of music and musical instruments that is in our storage unit. We need to organize and inventory everything. On Friday, Nov. 4th, I plan on having a team work on this, starting at 10AM at the storage unit behind Sunflower Market in Corrales. If you are not able to be there, but would like to help in some way, we are in need of some tall bookshelves for the unit. Please let Tara know if you will be able to hlep.

Thanks in advance for your help and support.
