Dear CIS Families:

We start a new school year on MONDAY, August 15!   We are looking forward to a terrific new school year and enjoying our beautifully remodeled school.   Though we are still unpacking boxes I am sure you will agree that remodelling our school was the right decision, especially when you see our Science lab designed by Mr. Johnson! Thank you GC Members for approving the remodelling and continuing the vision of our CIS charter.

Please note the new start and pick up times in this issue and on our website.   The entire staff and teachers have been working extremely hard to prepare our school for our students.    Please take the time to read this entire BP issue for updated information regarding our school.   Pay special attention to the student drop-off and pick-up instructions below.   Please rememebr that no students are to be dropped off or picked up in the front parking lot.  Additionally, please review the student uniform policy below with your student.

Don't forget to come by tomorrow to say HOLA to our teachers between 1:00 -3:00 p.m.   We look forward to seeing you.

Respectfully,
Dr. Elsy Diaz, Head Administrator

P.S.  Don't forget to keep checking the CIS website calendar for updated information www.corralesinternationalschool.org
ˇHola!

The remodel is complete and our teachers have been hard at work this week readying their classrooms in anticipation of school's start!

We invite you to come by the school between 1:00 p.m - 3:00 p.m. and say "hola" to your child's teacher. This is an opportunity for your family to come see all of the exciting changes that have taken place at CIS. Individual parent conferences are not possible on this day. Teachers will be putting the finishing touches on their classrooms and could certainly use your help if you have more than 10 minutes to spare!

 Kid's Food Pantry

Hello CIS families! It is the beginning of a new school year, and a great time to think of others who need our assistance.  We have kids who sometimes don't have a lunch or may not have had breakfast.  Please consider helping our community and donate items (that are ready to eat) for the Kid's Food Pantry.  We need healthy items (no chips, candy bars or ramen noodles).  Some suggestions are:

Lunchables or similar packaged cold lunches

Yogurt

Cheese

Fruit cups

Jell-O cups

Pudding cups

Soup cups

Quick microwaveable meals

Granola bars

Single serve, shelf stable, milk

Single serve cereal cups

Single serve Macaroni & Cheese cups

We also greatly appreciate the donation of items to make healthy meals.  Some suggestions are:

  • Spaghetti dinner: pasta & pasta sauce
  • Chicken casserole: egg noodles, onion, cheddar cheese, canned chicken, 2 condensed cream of mushroom soups, can sliced mushrooms, potato chips
  • Sandwiches: loaf of bread, peanut butter, jelly
  • Pancakes: box of pancake mix, pancake syrup

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

At CIS, we recognize that one of the best predictors of academic success is parent involvement. We encourage each of you to become involved through our active PTA, as classroom volunteers, and through our many events held throughout the year.  Events such as the Jog-a-thon and International Day bring our community together both for fun and in support of school priorities.

Classroom Parent
Be a classroom parent and help your child's teacher!  Contact your child's teacher directly if you are interested!

School Advisory Committee
If you are interested in becoming involved now, our School Advisory Committee (SAC) is recruiting volunteer representatives.  The SAC collaborates with the head administrator on many aspects of the school's management and processes.   Please contact Tara Armijo-Prewitt at
tprewitt@gmail.com or 304.0672 if you are interested.

Sponsor an After School Club!
This year's clubs will include chess, soccer, building with legos, drama, bugs, scrapbooking, newspaper, sewing, battle of the books, among other offerings.  If you'd like to sponsor a club either before or after school, please contact Tara at tprewitt@gmail.com or 304-0672.

Volunteer in the Classroom
Check with your child's teacher to see how you can help!

PTA
Join our PTA! Teachers, staff and families come together to support the International School mission. The support we receive from each of you is invaluable.

Parent Drop-off/Pick-up

Some things to keep in mind are:

  1. These procedures were developed to keep all our students safe.
  2. Students may be dropped off or picked-up only in the designated lane
  3. Once you choose to use the drop-off/pick-up area you cannot back out or drive around.
  4. If you use the drop-off/pick-up area you must stay in your car.
  5. If you prefer you can park in the designated areas and walk your child.
  6. If you are not within the drop-off/pick-up area you will need to wait.
  7. Only cars within the drop-off/pick-up area will be able to pick-up or drop-off students.
  8. If you have students needing assistance with their booster seats, you may want to park and walk your child.  The drop-off/pick-up lane needs to maintain a continuous flow.
  9. You cannot drop/pick up your student(s) in the front of the school, during the times of 7:45-8:30 a.m. or 2:50-3:45 p.m. Please use the back parking lot.
