APS APPROVES CHARTER AMENDMENT TO ADD 9th and 10th Grade!
Dear CIS Families:

The APS Board Policy Committee approved our request to amend our charter to add 9th and 10th grade today!   Everyone is invited to attend our special meeting on Monday, April 18th at 5:30 p.m. to hear about our plans to extend our students' learning beyond the 8th grade.

Eighth Grade Families, please plan on attending this special meeting and give us an opportunity to explain the exceptional learning opportunties we plan to offer our students in 9th amd 10th grade.   Your children can continue learning in our small school that is safe, nurturnig, and high achieving.

CIS provides students with a unique opportunity to enroll in a school dedicated to the study of world civilizations, languages, and cultures. Through the International Baccalaureate curricula, CIS students are engaged in the following areas:

¨      Building and reinforcing students' sense of identity and cultural awareness

¨      Fostering students' recognition and development of universal human values

¨      Stimulating curiosity and inquiry in order to foster a spirit of discovery and enjoyment of learning

¨      Equipping students with the skills to learn and to acquire knowledge, individually or collaboratively, and to apply these skills and knowledge accordingly across a broad range of areas

¨      Providing international content while responding to local requirements and interests

¨      Encouraging diversity and flexibility in pedagogical approaches

¨      Providing appropriate forms of assessment and international benchmarking
