BACK PACK EXPRESS

Dear CIS Families:

We had a successful first two days of school.  The excitement of the first day was felt by students, teachers, and many parents.   Thank you all for participating in our Meet and Greet and in making this such a successful beginning.

IB Learner Profile: Caring
Through Caring, students develop empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.

Activities for parents
Role model the caring behavior you would like to see in your child all the time. Children notice everything you do.   Using kind words, helping people without being asked, being an active listener, all show your child that you care about people. Even a simple thing, like holding the door for someone, shows your child that you are aware of others and want to help them.
STUDENT SAFETY

Please keep in mind some of these safety precautions to keep our students safe.
  1. Students can not be picked up after 3:20 from their classrooms
  2. All students will be dismissed at 3:30 from the pick-up/drop-off area (Midway Blvd. entrance).
  3. Since we have 70 more students this school year, some of you may choose to park on Midway Blvd. and walk to get your children from the pick-up area.
  4. Please be aware that there is a STOP sign in the parking lot to allow pedestrians to cross.
  5. Students not picked up by 3:40 will be taken to the aftercare program by their teacher.

Room Parents
Now that the school year has begun, each class will need a room parent! Please contact our volunteer coordinators, Tara Armijo-Prewitt (tprewitt@gmail.com) or Anna Prewitt (annaprewitt@gmail.com) if you are interested in volunteering!  Carolyn Miney has volunteered to be the Kindergarten room parent.  Let's hear from 1st through 8th now!

UNIFORMS
Uniforms orders will be taken Monday, August 16th -Thursday, August 19th from  8:00-9-00 a.m.
LIBRARY
Many of you have seen the set-up of our new library.  We are in need of volunteers to catalog and shelve books that have been donated and ordered.  Please contact Nancy Light nancy@corralesinternationalschool.org to volunteer or donate books.
