Hello Parents and future Parents,

I would like to start the ground work to get us a bus for the start of the next school year. My proposal is to do fundraising events that would offset the daily cost of the bus (please read below for details). This would be beneficial to all of us. We would always have dependable travel to and from school, the kids would enjoy riding the bus, and we would have a piece of mind.  J

Please be advised my math is not perfect and these are estimations. J All those that are interested I would like to host a planning event at the Corrales Park (Where the Library is).  Please bring a chair to sit in, refreshment, and some sun block. The children can play at the play ground while we come up with ideas and they can also participate if they want to. The date I have in mind is June 6th at 2:00 PM.  If you are interested please contact me at [email protected]. This is just to have an idea of how many parents are interested and coming as well as if something changes it will allow me to give you an update. I would appreciate your E-mail and a number I could call you at. Thank you.

I have contacted several buses in the New Mexico area. What I have found out is the bus companies charge a daily rate for use of the bus and it is based on the month (Monday thru Friday) and current fuel costs. The current fuel cost is $3.25.

Approximately the cost per day is $135.00

From August to May there are 203 days the average is 23 days per month

23 days x $135.00 = $3105.00 per month

The monthly cost for families to participate is:

15 Families = $207.00

20 Families = $155.25

25 Families = $124.20

30 Families = $103.50

This year the majority of parents that were interested could not or did not want to pay a high monthly cost to bus their children into school. Instead we found ways of bringing our children in and out of school, which included car pool or a drive in and out every day.  For some parents this was hectic.

Please consider the costs and the time it takes to get our little's ones to and from school before making your decision to participate or not. Some of those are:

1.     The cost of gas is $2.75 on average we are traveling 22 miles per day.

2.     Consider your time to get them to and from school: Our time is Valuable

3.     Time away from work (is nice) but our costs are different for each of us

Thank you so much! I look forward to meeting with you and getting this started.

Sincerely

Juliet E. Casalduc.
