What's the Buzz around the Urban League of Greater Madison? The annual Martin Luther King Youth Recognition Breakfast, of course! The breakfast is one of the largest observances of the King holiday, traditionally selling out and attracting over 800 people. Each year, Urban League recognizes nearly 200 Dane County youth who are exceptional.
In keeping with the King tradition, Urban League awards youth with a history of strong academics, school involvement, and community service. This year, with the help of our partners in the community, Urban League will also award five area seniors with Martin Luther King Scholarships. [Click here for list of awardees]
Sunday, January 16th | Doors open 7:30 AM Program begins promptly at 8 AM | Edgewood High School | Tickets are $8 in advance through Friday, Jan. 14 at 5PM, or $10 at the door.

Charlayne Hunter-Gault made civil rights history as the first African American woman to graduate from the University of Georgia. She has since earned acclaim in her career as an award-winning journalist both on television and in print. She is known for her work in Johannesburg, South Africa as National Public Radio's chief correspondent in Africa and later for her work as CNN's Johannesburg bureau chief.
