FROM THE PRESIDENT...
President, NWSID

It's been a whirlwind June and July!  We are in the process of so much change:  our office is being streamlined, we're changing our newsletter and meeting invitation formats - which necessitates learning new programs, we are gaining new office personnel - and, to top it off, it's membership renewal season, and we discovered that many of the invoices sent out were incorrect and some members have not even received an invoice at all - it's enough to make my head spin!  Please bear with us as we wade through all of the issues that are descending upon us at once.  We'll get it all resolved soon.

A questionnaire was sent to membership during June, in lieu of having a chapter meeting; thank you very much to those of you who took the time to answer the 10 questions.  The answers are being collated and analyzed now and the results will be shared with all of you soon.

Barbara Kalis has completed her daunting and thorough task of revising our bylaws to reflect our current events.  The proposed new verbiage will be sent out to all designer members in "good standing" soon.  When you receive them, please vote early so that we can get new documents printed up for all members.

I hope to see you at our July 20th chapter meeting at  Contract Furnishings Mart in Redmond on July 20th.  (14920A NE 95th St, Redmond, WA 98052)

NWSID Board Notes:

From Bev Bradshaw and Tana Mattson/Programs Co-Chairs:

For the new designers and PRA members who have recently joined NWSID we, as Program Chairs, have been asked what the $20 monthly meeting fee is used for. NWSID is a nonprofit group and since we are constantly growing and we have an office, which requires a part-time office person in order to make sure all the office tasks are completed in a timely manner; some of the funds go toward paying that person's salary.  (We have just hired a new person to fill the position who will be starting July 16th.)

Some of the monthly meeting funds and membership fees go toward marketing costs and fundraising for NWSID.  There will be new and exciting things coming from the Ways & Means committee that will be revealed shortly and some great marketing tools for all of us.  And, NWSID-sponsored meetings are costs to the organization.  Last year we catered the Christmas party, which we will do again this year, as well as February's meeting, "Topics & Tapas".  The catering can be costly but everyone enjoys the social and celebration time for Christmas and, for meetings at which we feature professional speakers, we often have to pay them.

Win a chance to enter "Split the Pot" free!

We could use a volunteer to collect the "split the pot" monies at the regular meetings each month as members check in at the door.  The volunteer will be rewarded for their efforts by being able to can put their card in the pot for FREE for that meeting.  Please contact Beverly Bradshaw at bev@bbradshawinteriors.com or Tana Mattson, altstadtinteriors@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer for the July 20 meeting at CFM or any future meetings.  Thanks!!
