Tips for Planning a Successful Family Reunion

Tips for Planning a Successful Family Reunion

Can you remember the last time all of your family was together? Have you thought about having a family reunion? If you have, we have a few tips to help you plan a successful reunion.

1. Contact the members of your family and confirm that they are interested.

2. Identify the person who is going to take responsibility for coordinating the planning effort.

*3.Identify the Date and Location. It is important to give your family plenty of advance notice. Summertime is usually the time of year that is selected, but if your family decides that they want to plan around a ski trip or a time when you can take advantage of off-peak room rates then do it.

4. Form committees to help get things done. Technology will make it much easier to include family members from all over the United States and beyond.

5. Make a checklist with the task that must be completed.

6. Establish a budget. Remember that family members often have various economic challenges so make sure it is an experience everyone will enjoy.

7. Prepare a letter asking family members to "Save the Date" and any other details you want them to have. Think about creating a web site or agree upon utilizing the "Chairs Face Book page for the Reunion updates. Later you can mail and email invitations.

8. Plan your food (consider dietary menu options for family members)

9. Capture the memories by taking lots of pictures, videos, candid shots, and group shots.

10. Evaluate the event and get a volunteer for the next Reunion.

*For additional tips and/or best room rates, email [email protected]

Family Reunions are BIG business when it come to travel.  More than 1 in every 5 people have traveled to a family reunion in past three years.

This translates into nearly 72 million U.S. adults. In fact, one in five (22%) U.S. adults say they took a trip to attend a family reunion in just the past year.

The above stats are from the US Travel Association.
