Owls
 San Diego's Burrowing Owls
Need Your Help!

Burrowing OwlEfforts to recover San Diego's population of Burrowing Owls are underway and Project Wildlife is helping - one owl at a time.

This unique, long-legged owl lives in burrows underground in wide open landscapes throughout North and South America. Due to habitat loss, San Diego's population of Burrowing Owls has decreased from around 600 in the 1980s to less than 100 today.

PW has teamed up with biologists at Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve to help establish a population of Burrowing Owls in the area. After successfully rehabilitating sick and injured Burrowing Owls, Project Wildlife transfers them to the reserve. Here each owl is outfitted with an artificial burrow within a temporary outdoor cage. If the owls make themselves at home in the burrow, the caging is removed to allow the owls to breed and restore the species' population.

YOU CAN HELP in the effort to save
San Diego's Burrowing Owls!

Every dollar makes a difference in Project Wildlife's ability to help this vulnerable species.

WLIW
WE LIKE IT WILD! Raises
Much-Needed Funds

It was a beautiful and relaxing WLIW Photo Collagesunny afternoon on the bay for the guests of PW's annual fundraiser, held Outer Banks Style on Sunday, October 2nd at Island Prime/C-Level on Harbor Island.

Wine tastings from Freixenet USA and Bergquist Wine Marketing and beer tastings from Karl Strauss were beautifully paired with a delicious menu from Event Chair and Host Executive Chef Deborah Scott of Island Prime/C-Level. Guests were treated to up-close animal encounters with Animal Ambassadors from both Project Wildlife and SeaWorld.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, guests, volunteers and donors, WE LIKE IT WILD! Outer Banks Style raised $100,000 to fund PW's life-saving programs and services!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who helped make this event possible!

Volunteer Spotlight:
Volunteer's Fundraiser to Benefit
Wildlife and Women's Theater

Volunteer Edrie Totten and her friends wanted to do something special for their favorite charities during the holiday season. Using their various connections, they created a benefit dinner at a friend's home in Banker's Hill with all proceeds going to charity.

Proceeds from the "For Women and Wildlife Benefit Dinner" will go to support Project Wildlife and the Moxie Theater. The event will be held Sunday, November 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. and will feature entertainment by Jazz crooner Jonathan Karrant, pre-dinner snacks, a hosted bar, lasagna dinner and dessert.

TICKETS are $20 if purchased before Thursday, November 10, otherwise $25, or $30 at the door.
