Medallion Project
Thanks to everyone who made it to the Compass Event on November 20.  We had a great time planning out our Medallion Project.

We are in the early stages of brainstorming, but here's a quick update on what we worked on:
  • We decided that we want to focus on providing new housing or improved housing for someone.
  • We started to talk about fundraising, but haven't made any decisions about what to do yet.
  • We know that we need to find an organization to work with on our project.
  • We have not decided where we want to do our project.
If you have questions about our project, please contact Austin (austin@crossroads4kids.org).

College Fridays
College Friday Visits have started!  Please sign up for any college visits you would like to make with Crossroads for Kids.

SAT Prep: Low-Cost and No-Cost Options
SAT Prep classes can be expensive, but they can make a huge difference when it comes to your SAT score.  Here are two great low-cost/no-cost options for you!

Let's Get ReadyLet's Get Ready
Let's Get Ready offers free SAT Prep courses at area schools to students who qualify for financial aid.  They are currently accepting applications for their fall programs.  Most classes take place in the evenings at local high schools.  You do not have to attend one of these high schools in order to sign up for SAT prep classes: Brighton High, Malden High School, Boston HERC, East Boston High, Somerville High School, Framingham High School.  There are also locations in Springfield and Worcester!

Prep classes start in the next couple of weeks, so apply as soon as possible to make sure you get a spot!

Revolution Prep
Revolution PrepRevolution Prep offers scholarships for their SAT prep products, including in-person classes as well as online/study at home courses.  This is a great option for Cape Cod teens!

To apply for a scholarship--call 1-877-738-7737.  They will take some information from you on the phone and ask you to write a short essay about why you deserve one of their scholarships.  They will also ask for the name of someone who can verify that you are in need of a scholarship.  Please give them my information--Austin Gilliland, Crossroads for Kids, 781-834-2700).  Click here for more information about Revolution Prep.

Please contact me if you need help signing up for either of these options!
Junior Year: Looking forward

Brockton High School
Junior Year is here!  Remember to keep an eye on the things you need to do to make sure you're ready to apply to college next year.

In December, you should:
  • Make a college file. Keep your college search, test information, and application information in it.
  • Review your scores from the PSAT/NMSQT. Where do you need more work?
In January, you should:
  • Start a scholarship search
  • Learn about financial aid
  • Memorize your social security number

Please contact us for help with any of these things.
Stay in touch with any questions you have.  We'll be in touch soon!

Sincerely,

Austin Gilliland
