We hope this edition of the Medallion Newsletter finds you well.  In this edition you will find information about your College One-On-Ones as well as College Fridays and the first Medallion Event of the school year.

Bring your college information with you to the overnight this weekend!

This can be an overwhelming time of year.  Remember that we're here to help.  Just let us know what questions you have.  School year event schedules have been mailed to your home.  Please let us know if you didn't receive one and I'll e-mail it to you.

College Fridays

Spring Visits will include Bridgewater State, Johnson and Wales, UMass Amherst and more! 

College Visits and Your High School
Most high schools will give you an excused absence for college visits.  We will provide you with a letter from Crossroads for Kids letting them know that you were with us to visit a college.  It is important that you also tell your parents/guardians about your plans.  We can also give you a letter for your parents if they want more information about your visit.
Scholarship Watch
Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship

Comcast works with high school guidance counselors and principals to offer scholarships to youth leaders in their communities.

Criteria:
  • be a full-time high school senior
  • demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and display leadership abilities in school activities or through work experience
  • have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher.
Your principal or guidance counselor must nominate you for this scholarship.  You can ask them if they are willing to do this for you.

College Application Timeline: September-October
class of 2011Are you on track for applying to colleges?  Here is a timeline to make sure you're getting things done.

November:
  • Take the SAT I or II if applicable
  • Meet deadlines for Early Action or Early Decision
  • Meet your high school's deadlines for secondary school reports
December:
