INFECTION CONTROL

On May 18, 2012, CMS published the Survey and Certification Memo 12-30-ALL regarding the use of insulin pens in healthcare facilities. The memorandum refers to reports of healthcare personnel not adhering to safe practices while using insulin pens and those healthcare personnel may not be aware of the risks that the improper use of the insulin pens pose to residents. |

5 Day Extensions
The Office of Inspector General has previously granted five day extensions for providers to submit their case materials. However, after review of the process by OIG and CMS it was determined the five day extension will only be granted for State deficiencies effective immediately. Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Updates |
The Office of Inspector General, Division of Health Care, is offering a MDS 3.0 Updates-webcast designed to discuss changes to the MDS 3.0 effective April 1, 2012. The recommended audience for this webcast includes Long Term Care Providers involved with the MDS 3.0 assessments.
No registration is required to view this webcast. A Certificate of Completion and Contact Hours will not be provided for this webcast. The Power Point presentation, April 2012 changes to MDS 3.0, is attached for your reference while viewing the webcast.
