jRAVEN Version 1.1.4 Release Information |
jRAVEN version 1.1.4 incorporates MDS 3.0 Submission Specifications version 1.10.1 effective April 1, 2012. It also includes any changes to Section S and state-specific federal items collected on the NQ and/or NP item subsets.
The jRAVEN software is posted on the RAVEN Download page of the QTSO website at www.qtso.com/ravendownload.html.
Consult the jRAVEN Installation Guide and jRAVEN User Guide for further information.

Danger - Electrical Hazards! |
Hazards associated with electrical systems include electrical shock, burns, and fire. To avoid these hazards health care facility should establish policy and procedures to ensure compliance with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code.

New Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR) Process | Participate as IDR Review Panel Member
OIG implemented a new process for the Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR) panel review. When a panel IDR is requested, the OIG is implementing a video-conference. This will replace the face to face meeting in Frankfort. With video-conference sites available state wide, there is the ability to include Administrators that have not had an opportunity to participate as an IDR panel member in the past.

Kentucky Applicant Registry and Employment Screening (KARES) | Program Update
In the November edition of the long-term care newsletter, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) provided you with information regarding the National Background Check Program (NBCP) grant, received last year from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The NBCP grant initiative, which is called the "Kentucky Applicant Registry and Employment Screening" or KARES program, will allow long-term care employers to send prospective employees to fingerprint collection sites located throughout the state for submission to a comprehensive state and national criminal background check.

Report on Gaps in LTC Emergency Preparedness |
Highlights from Department for Health and Human Services & Office of Inspector General
Six years after its 2006 post-Katrina report, the Office of Inspector General of DHHS has issued a follow-up report on nursing home emergency preparedness. The new report looks at LTC compliance with current regulations regarding emergency preparedness, plans and staff training. It also examines LTC use of the CMS recommendations in the "CMS Emergency Preparedness Checklist for Health Care Facilities".

CMS Announces MDS 3.0 Updates |
Webcast Outlines Changes
The Office of Inspector General, Division of Health Care, will offer an MDS 3.0 Updates webcast designed to discuss changes to the MDS 3.0 since implementation; provide answers to coding questions from providers; and discuss upcoming changes and provider concerns. This webcast will be viewable in the next couple of months. The recommended audience for this webcast includes Long Term Care Providers involved with the MDS 3.0 assessments.
