Highest Early Enrollment Rate In Our History

Seventy percent of the camp is already enrolled for the summer of 2012. We set a seventeen-year record with over 525 campers enrolled this fall. Enrollment in Center City Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore continues to grow. Last year we had 127 campers from Philly and there are already 100 campers enrolled filling 7.5 vans for this coming summer. We had a total of 9 vans in town last season. It looks as though we may need to add an additional van there soon. In Cherry Hill 120 out of 169 campers are enrolled and in Voorhees 84 out of 137 campers are enrolled. Marlton has been growing as well and 31 out of 43 campers are already enrolled.

What's New for 2012

Improvements for 2012 were started as early July of 2011. After 16 years of continually making improvement to camp we have finally run out of electrical power. Planning with Atlantic City Electric began in July and as soon as camp was over we began a project to double our power. Although it does not sound glamorous for our campers it will allow us to continue to make further camp wide improvements.

We have also replaced one-third of our pool decking. An additional 4000 square foot patio was added between the pool and the blue pavilion. New picnic tables, umbrellas and lounge chairs were ordered to provide a beautiful seating area.

XBOX

Our computer room is being updated and converted to an XBOX 360 room. Ten 32" LCD flat screen televisions have already been purchased. Our campers were playing CD-ROM games on our computers at a very slow pace. The upgrade to XBOX will allow campers to play higher quality, age appropriate games. All of the systems will be connected to allow multiple campers to play a single game in unison thereby encouraging teamwork and cooperation. The remaining computers will be used to create a Junior Camp Computer Room in one of our existing rooms.

Uncle Mike Spano, our Facilities Director, will also be building a new 30' x 25' pavilion next to our existing pavilionswhite tent sat next to the red pavilion each year. This winter Mike will replace it with a permanent structure. It will add additional shaded and rainy day program space. It is also integrated into the new pool patio for a wonderful place to host a family reunion, corporate picnic or party.

Additional camp-wide improvements include the repainting of the entire boys locker room, retiling of the girls locker room floor and installing new carpet in the office. Thanks to our parent vendors at Burlington Carpets and Genovese Roofing who helped make these projects possible.

CIT Pocono Weekend Getaway whitewater challengers
This summer we will be offering a wonderful weekend getaway for all Counselors-in-Training (CITs). CITs are campers who have finished 7th and 8th grade. At then end of the 5th week of camp, Friday, July 27th to Sunday July 29th, all CITs are eligible to go on the Pocono trip. Any CIT who is not registered for the 5th week of camp is welcome to attend. The trip begins on Friday afternoon at the conclusion of the camp day. The CITs stay at camp on Friday evening, for a pizza swim party, depart for the Poconos early Saturday morning for a whitewater rafting trip on the Lehigh River and return to camp on Sunday evening after a day at CamelBeach Water Park. The trip is available for $400.00. Details will be sent to all eligible CITs.
